Fairly 'typical' Euro 5W-40 - very thin 40-weight, with an average amount of adds...nothing bad, nothing spectacular.

I'm suprised at just how close many Euro 5W-40's are to 13cst - they barely qalify as 40-weights!
 
I was thinking of using it in an '09 BMW with the N54 twin turbo di engine (heat shear and fuel dilution) but I'm not so sure now. Look at the flash point (405) and the phosphorous adds. All somewhat marginal.
 
Yes, that is what I'm thinking. I think I will get a VOA done on the current 5w40 formulation available. All the BITOG VOAs on the 300V are several years old. But from what I've seen on BITOG, it looks like a perfectly suitable (good detergent/dispersant adds), albeit expensive, application for a street oil.
