I wouldn't expect them to care about platinum or moly, but the how the oil performs in whatever tests they deem important. There are are usually more than one way to get to the end goal.

I just wish I knew what the"end goal" was for the STJLR.03.5003 spec. Do we even know what was "deem(ed) important"?
If we knew, we could find the best modern spec which covers those requirements.
