Finally got me one of them thar K&N's for the old Saturn. I'm amazed at the difference in smoothness!

I don't feel any more power available, rather the dreaded 2900rpm harshness (for the lack of a better word) is gone. SMOOTH! From idle to Redline! That "harshness" is a "hiccup" of sorts in the upper 2K range. I noticed it on all the Saturns I've owned. Gone! Gone forever!! Woohoo!

Dunno why I didn't this sooner.

I've been using a K&N drop in on a 2000 SL for about 3 years. I modified the airbox by removing the resonators and patching the holes with a rubber patch and plastic adhesive. I then took some shop vac hose and made a cold air intake from the airbox to the front bumper. I have to say the whole set up gives it more pep and quicker throttle response. I have never noticed any oil buildup on the throttle plates when I cleaned the TB and K&N about two weeks ago. So three years, and no cleaning, I've never had a problem with K&N. Not bad for living in dusty Las Vegas, NV
