Sue and I went every year too, including the F5000 race that preceded the F1 race. I have a picture of Sue getting Graham Hill's autograph after the F5000 race had finished. It may well have been the last autograph he signed because he was killed in a plane crash on his return home. Hill was a car owner then; Embassy-Hill Racing. Tony Brise (sp?) was his driver. He was killed in that plane crash too.Went every year 1976 - 1984. When F1 was fun. Not now.
I think it was 1978. If you camped out at night (Sat.), you could drive the course - I and friends did.

We still have all these signed programs, newspapers, etc. We have dozens of programs from many different races, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans. I intend on selling them one day. Neither of my two sons will want them.
I also have thousands of 35MM color slides from all these races, truly incredible photos. This picture of James is from that collection. Even though we had little money back then we splurged on tickets and pit passes, even if it meant eating rice and beans for a month. Sue and I were hardcore race fans.
In fact, this picture is of Sue on our very first date - literally our first date on a cold and foggy weekend at Laguna Seca. 1974. Best.....wife.....ever.
