No that's Frank Herbert who wrote Dune. David Lynch directed the 80's movie of the book which was widely considered to be terrible. He also did a TV show called Twin Peaks that ended up making no sense at all at the end which I think is what the joke the image is supposed to be about.

Lynch is known for some strange movies like Mulholland Drive, Blue Velvet, and Eraserhead. They're great movies in my opinion. They all show that not everything is what it appears on the surface.

I thought Lynch's Dune was pretty good. Guess I'm a Lynch fan.
