Chris, what is that vee shaped "wash" in the sat photo? Some kind of ancient glacier or river bed end?

The white spot at the north end is ElMirage dry lake. It was a popular place to do top speed races in the early days of hot rodding. Still do that there today on it as well as off roading.
The space shuttle has landed on it.
I assume that is some sort of volcanic rock leading to it.
