I added this to my arsenal. I hit the engine with this as step 1. 2. Paint brush. 3. CD2/Sonus Motorkote (having a hard time applying the Sonus product. You have to apply it very very lightly).

After the rinse, a wash with soapy water is a good idea, then rinse off the soapy water. It cuts the smell and the residual Kerosene that might be left behind.

Hi, it's for detailing the engine. It's different because it's a wax based product that you spray very lightly on and do not wipe or touch it at all. It takes about an hour to dry.

Quote:
onus Trim & Motor Kote is an acrylic based sealant/coating that is sprayed on and allowed to dry. As the sealant/coating dries it adheres to the surface by penetrating and bonding. This is a silicone free, long lasting sealant.

Gunk is junk. Smells, bad for paint, rubber, plastic, bad for the environment, etc. Use Simple Green diluted 50/50 with water. Finish with a light coat of silicone spray where needed but never on belts.

You just have to be careful with Simple Green on aluminum.

The Simple Green Pro HD formula (available at Home depot) is the retail version of their Extreme Aircraft cleaner. It claims to be safe for metals (aluminum)and plastic/rubber associated with delicate aircraft situations.

Seems like the logical choice to me.

You have to use the right Simple Green product for aluminum. The most common Simple Green is not the best one for aluminum, and the one most often used. Care in use is important or use the Simple Green Pro HD Formula, and rest easy. I'd be willing to bet most people had no clue another Formula existed.

From their site:

Aluminum - Is it safe to use Simple Green® on aluminum?
When used with caution and according to the instructions, Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner has been safely and successfully used to clean aluminum. Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner, Crystal Simple Green® Cleaner/Degreaser, Simple Green Pressure Washer Concentrates, and Pro Series™ Simple Green® Automotive Cleaner have been used on aircraft, automotive, industrial and consumer aluminum items for over 20 years. However, caution and common sense must be used: aluminum is a soft metal that easily corrodes with unprotected exposure to water. The aqueous-base and alkalinity of Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner can accelerate the corrosion process. Therefore, contact times for unprotected or unpainted aluminum surfaces should be kept as brief as the job will allow - never for more than 10 minutes.

Yeah, the Pro HD Simple Green is available at Home Depot in my area.

I haven't tried the gunk product or the Pro HD, though. Thinking of reconditioning my old factory 13" Honda alloys.

Thanks!

I picked up SG Pro HD at Home Depot. Using that and then Sonus Motorkote.
