Hook it up to the existing wires and see how it sounds and works. It might be good enough for your purposes and music playing volumes. The factory speakers were poor in my 89 Toyota Pickup back in mid - late 90s and adding speaker boxes with tweeter up and bass into seat sounded pretty amazing. I believe they were wired with fader also.
