1985 Buick Skyhawk 2.0 4-cyl.

First oil changes were done at 'Mr. Lube' quick lubes, and, AFAIK, they used Castrol GTX back then. So, it would have been GTX 5W-30 or 10W-30, every 3k like clockwork!

+1

I used 10w40 GTX all the time. Later switched to 20w50 Kendall and used that up until 2006 when I actually started following an owner's manual!

First oil I bought was Valvoline white bottle 10w30 for the first car I owned, a 1982 Buick LeSaber with a 350ci motor. I think I bought the Canadian Tire brand oil filters for it. That was back the early 90's.

Dad used Western Auto oil in the 50s and 60s,,Wearwell was the name on the can. I used Havoline in the 60s on my car.

First oil I can recall being poured into an engine in front of me, Pennzoil 10W-30 (positive on the brand, almost positive on the viscosity).

First oil I used doing an oil change myself, Royal Purple 10W-30. My Dad got a 5 gallon jug of the stuff back in the late 80s from GE Plastics and I was taught how do an oil change on it.

The oil I poured into my first car, Mobil 1 5W-30.

My first oil was QS back in about 61 or 2. I did have some sludge problems then so I went with Valvoline straight wt HD oils.
