Any Ghost Stories?

A business associate had a bedroom that was haunted. Every single night something would move the corner of his dresser out several inches. He never saw anything except the dresser being moved away. After months of moving the dresser back he just left it pushed out and all was ok.

Years ago I knew a contractor who was working in an old vacant house on the water front in Baltimore. The building in the past was used as a jail or detention place for drunken seamen. While working there alone he heard chains rattling and people stomping up the steps. He was so scared that he quit working there never to return.
Was that in NYC ? The 🐀 are HUGE …

I am a FIRM deliver in science and ruling out all other possibilities before calling something paranormal. I am very skeptical by nature. I don't believe 99% of paranormal stories.

That said, I've had a few paranormal encounters. Lights in the sky dancing and looking like they were going through mitosis and then forming back into 1 ball of light. And this was before drones.

Seeing what is now known as the "Hat Man"

Doors opening and lights coming on at the same time as if somebody had just entered the room. In fact, this happened to the wife and I AND my brother at the same time. Same night. Different houses 20 miles apart.

Another time, my father saw me walk into his living room, and he started talking to me. Happily asking what prompted the unexpected visit. I then disappeared/evaporated. I was physically about 40 miles away. (He wasn't senile and only ~58 at the time)

Electronics turning on at the same time on a specific day but only in certain areas of a house.

Pictures flying off a shelf when people in the house were angry.

And a few other things.
There must certainly be an explanation for these things. And I have come to believe that some places have paranormal activities and that some people seem to be more receptive to them. No idea why.

But not all things lend themselves to empirical data/testing.

Forgot this one:

When my daughter was about 6, she was with me when I was renovating an old house out in the country but on the edge of a very small and old "town" of about 20 people. House was Originally built in 1890 or so. Neighbor's kids, about the same age, would come over and play with her sometimes. And they were always so loud as they came running over you could hear them outside as they approached. Especially, since we would have windows open. One day, these kids were coming over, as we could hear them giggling and running. One of them asked my daughter, from outside, to come play. So, we walk outside to greet them as always, except this time....no kids. Anywhere. No giggling. No birds chirping. Nothing.

Long story short, I discovered that the kids were 30 miles away at their grandparents and that NOBODY was around us except the next closest neighbor 1/8 mile away. And he was 70, lived alone, and had no company. (I walked over and talked to him) No kids, no people, anywhere near us. (Again, very small town)

That same house would eat my tools only to have those tools reappear at my feet. I sold that **** house and never finished the renovation.

We were the first non family owners of a farmhouse in Collins, IA. The day we moved in, the last daughter to have grown up there told us not to worry about any spirits living in there, as they are nice. We shrugged it off being Jesus believing Christians.

2 days after moving in the basement flooded due to the main pipe breaking behind the wall. The plumber said he had never seen a break like that before. It was a very clean break, not a stress fracture or rotten pipe.

Afterwards, my wife would wake me up in a blood curdling screen as a faceless dark figure would be leaning over her, inches from her face and leaving her pinned to the bed. It would disappear as I woke up. This happened multiple times.

Our dog would look at the ceiling weirdly all the time. We had found someone’s braids in a box in the attic.

Our son would wake up wearing different clothes than he went to bed in.

The yard would be covered in flies, all 6 acres, and we had a terrible snake problem. The kids got good at killing snakes.

We sold that house and moved out two years later as there was too much to bear between that and some weather events.

My son wrote his first book loosely inspired by our experience living in that haunted house. He also has a haunted story podcast.

I never believed in any of it until we lived it.

I was a ghost myself one night, years ago. :p
Took a new job in a small town and got an apartment.

My girlfriend came to spend the weekend. We were going out that night and got into my pickup. I "forgot" something and went back in the apartment. She brought an extra change of clothes and a extra pair of shoes.
I took her shoes from the floor and put them in the bottom of the fridge.:p

We came back later that night and she found the shoes in there and kind of freaked out. Said this place is haunted.
She would never stay alone there after that. If I went to the local store, she always tagged along!:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I have posted two ghost experiences previously in these forums, here's another:

Some years ago, my aunt died in her 70s. Her only daughter got married and thereafter lived in her husband's house. The daughter's friend shortly rented the old place, which was in a small city street but which had a rather large yard and a wire fence around it. One morning, he was watering the garden plants and he later narrates that a lady approached him from nowhere and said, you're doing a good job, the owner of the place will appreciate your efforts. She then left.

A few days later, the friend mentions this to the daughter, who is thinks oddly of this, since the fence would have normally kept the visitor out of the premises. She digs up an old family album and the friend points out the picture of my aunt and very excitedly says that's the lady who talked to me!

This is me as well as an engineer and Christian. I believe in Aliens as much as I believe in ghosts...having said that, I did have one experience (four of us actually) that I have never been able to explain.

My wife and I were boating with LONG time friends. We lived across from the river from each other, and I had known them for years. Between the two of us, there were few people who knew that stretch of the Illinois river better than we did. This is the stretch between the lock south of Peoria and the lock at La Salle, IL.

Anyways...my friend and his wife had just got a new 30' cruiser with two berths, and invited us to spend the weekend on the water with them (Friday-Sunday sleeping on the boat).

We woke up Sat. morning bright and chipper. Made some coffee, ate some breakfast, and decided to take a river bath...so we pulled anchor, motored out from the cove we were in and out into the channel. It was a very quiet morning, zero boat or barge traffic to be seen. We jumped in with sponges and shampoo, and took our "bath" in the river water.

While we were floating and washing, coming downriver under power was an OLD paddle boat, casino looking thing, about three or four stories tall. It came from the north, headed downriver under power. He shut down about 100 yards from us, and must have thought our bath looked like a good idea. He and his dog climb to the top level, and he waves at us...he then dives off into the channel, and his dog follows him. They float for a few minutes, get back on board, fire up the engine and turn around and head BACK UP RIVER from where they came under paddle power (SLOW).

We all look at each other and talk about how we had NEVER seen a boat like that in this part of the river, and how odd it was the way he acted, and came back from where he came from. Well we finished out baths, toweled off, and headed north after him...seriously it had to have been less than a 10 minute head start that he had on us, but it was around a bend, so we could not see him any longer. Well, even though we were cruising at 25 knots, we never caught him, never saw him again. There are no off shoots, and only one tiny marina he would have not fit into, and we would easily have seen him anyways. Him, his dog, and the boat just vanished. To this day we can't explain what happened, and it still gives me the creeps thinking about it.

Quite a few...

Most amazing was a hell hound, probably about this time in 2019 (It's in a diary, I'll dig it out at some stage)...doing some meditation in sub zero (C) temps, as part of cold exposure biohacking....about 1AM

A large (very very large), black dog emerged from the creek flood plain over the road from my house, and walked to the middle of the road...red glowing eyes, looked at me, so I caouls see both, thenturned and walked towards the neighbour's house, then it phased out, like it walked THROUGH a portal.

Quite excited at the vision personally...the mythology is usually that they are an omen of death, of the visittee....

I beleive that the omen was of the serious life changes that were taking place...about the time that the ex and the kids were commencing their 3 month plan of preparing a house we were trying to sell as their bolt hole...three months later, came home from work, and they were gone....and savings etc....haven't seen my kids for over 4 years now.

It sounds like a variant of the sweat lodge. Native Americans and other indigenous peoples induced a hallucinogenic state via meditation, heat, and smoke in an enclosed space. Sensory deprivation would be a modern approach. I don't see any reason why cold would not work in a similar manner.

Your unconscious mind may have picked up on things your rational mind was blocking in an effort to shield you from misery. We humans tend to compensate when we can. Your vision could have been your unconscious mind's way of informing you. I'd attribute your experience to this mechanism rather than to some paranormal occurrence.

My housekeeper swears my cats see ghosts all the time. They freeze in their tracks and stare tensely at something/someone invisible moving through the house. Then my housekeeper comes running to tell me about it. I firmly believe my cats react to the smell of farts. Maybe I can exchange my housekeeper for a different model. Or I may need to hire Tangina Barrons so she can purge my house of uncouth spirits/demons/wendigos.

My sister and BIL were living in a very small very old house in Bedford Conn. She was pregnant with her first and apparently she woke in the middle of the night to see an old woman standing either in the room or near the bed.

They moved out a year later due to a lack of space.

I'm decidedly anti-magical thinking and no experience in my life has ever remotely approached being best explained as supernatural phenomenon.

I have an old family cemetery on my 3.6 acres from the 1820's-1850's. There are roughly 15 headstones on the corner of my property, mostly all headstones are legible. You can see my house to the left.

I have 3 children, ages 8, 5, 3.

-A few years ago our oldest child has said to my wife and I: "who is the man in the army suit walking around?" "I sometimes see him in my bedroom."
-My middle child has run into our bedroom multiple times and said "the man in the corner is scaring me!"
-We have had things disappear, I would search EVERYWHERE. 1-2 days later, my oldest daughter would sit on the couch in our living room, and literally sit on top of the lost item, pulling it out and saying, "look what I found!"
-This is the scariest story, and my wife has very shaken. We have a walkout basement, and path from our attached side garage to the walkout basement, then down a steep path down a decline to a flat area with a creek. We have friends over, drinks, fire pit, in this area. It's about 150 steps from the firepit to the basement door. Across the creek is heavy wooded and 3 railroad ties that our kids use as a bridge that connects to multiple paths through the woods. At exactly 3am, our dogs were going crazy at the front door. My wife left them outside thinking they had to go potty. Both dogs immediately ran around the front of the house, past the garage, past the basement door, down the path and stopped at the base of the bridge that connects to the paths in the woods. Once stopped, both dogs started growling and snarling directly into the dark woods. As that was occurring my wife caught up with them at by the firepit. My wife stood there in shock, not knowing what to do. She thought they were going to run off after deer which is why she chased them. All she had on her was her cell phone light and there was no moon. It would have been pitch black. Suddenly, both dogs turned around can ran back towards the house, whimpering. My wife just standing there, sprinted up the path towards the house. She called me at like 3:05 am hysterically crying. Still have no idea what happened and it hasn't happened again.

Who knows!
