adding dye to the smoke machine?

I just got a Redline smoke detector machine.. and have a question perhaps someone could answer..

it takes baby oil, great!
My question is.. could I safely add dye to the baby oil?
I've got some universal dye for tranny, oil, ps... it's a small 1oz bottle.
I'm not sure if it would plug somethng up for not allow the baby oil to heat up correctly... any ideas?

I guess it is safe if you don't breathe alot of it.
