Any reasonably priced alternatives to 3M tape application solution for clear bumper protector? $42 qt is a lot if windex works acceptably.

That stuff is applied basically exactly the same way as window tint. The 3M stuff is basically just distilled water, alcohol and a pure surfactant. If you want to make your own solution leaving the alcohol out works just fine.

I suppose you could use distilled water plus a few drops of Kodak PhotoFlo but unless you have other uses for the PhotoFlo it wouldn't be very economical.

Another possible solution is distilled water Jet Dry as it'll basically be the same thing.

But the easiest thing to do is just distilled water and few drops of dish soap. It'll work just as well. Windex is actually too soapy when using it to apply tint and adhesive backed films and you inevitably get tiny microbubbles.

If we're talking installation, I take back by RejeX suggestion. It'll be great after the install, but after the install only.
