FSM says “rebuild fork and change fluid” at 50,000 miles, no other change interval for fork oil is mentioned.

Bike rides fine, suspension is perfect - or as perfect as a softail gets.

Any good reason to do it sooner than 50,000?

I changed the fluid on my '05 Road King at 42k miles. It drained out looking like water, and stunk. I feel it road better with new oil in it. Maybe Harley figured most people would never put that any miles on a softail.,,

I changed my Softail Deuce fork oil somewhere around 10k miles and it was a day/night differernce afterwards. Never did it on my Ultra Classic and its at 20k miles.

To bring this to a close, I did not change it.

I was doing a 10.000 mile service and just did not feel it was warranted, I'll revisit that at 20,000.

Thanks all.

OE fork fluids are generally a CHEEP fluid, just like many original lubricants in most vehicles!!
