I get dunned by those Japanese car exporters. While perusing their notices I saw 2.0 liter Fiesta's. I have a 2013 Hatch SE 5 Speed manual. Always thought the 1.6 engine did not have enough bottom end grunt and thought it really needed a 2 liter engine. Our 99 Escort is 200 pounds heavier. Has the 2.0 liter SOHC engine and 5 speed. Rarely need to shift down to pass.

Anybody know about those 2.0 liter Fiesta's? I guessing it's the SOHC split port engine.

Oh, I was hoping to find 1972 Datsun 1200 Coupe. No luck there. My 72 with 800,000 miles on it needs a new body.

Haha, I had a 72 Datsun coupe in high school!

They're not for the USDM market, we only get the 1.6 N/A or Ecoboost in the ST.

I loved those early 70s Datsuns...the 1200 and the 510 were plain and simple. I wish I had one.
I also think Ford should have kept the Fiesta ST alive in the USA. The 1.5T 3 cylinder seems well liked in Europe.

In 74 a family member purchased new Datsun B-210 two door, four speed with a 1288 cc engine. It had 75 SAE net horsepower. (some sources say gross) It had a great sound when you gave it full throttle and revved it. Unfortunately it could only do 0 to 60 in 12 seconds however it could out do a Triumph Spitfire of the same year. Flame suit on. I have seen several well restored 510's out there.

I'm thinking the 2.0 liter 4 cylinder Turbo will become very popular in a lot of cars.

You've gotten your value out of that one. I'd be looking for another one too.

My brother bought one new but I expect he or my SIL crashed it while drunk. They didn't have it very long anyway. I'd tell him about your 800,000 mile model but the drink killed him a decade ago. Killed my SIL two decades ago.

A 510 would be great too, but from everything I've heard the B210 was not a worthy successor.

That thing was a real pocket rocket. After rebuilding the engine one time. I began ordering re manufactured by Nissan in Japan from the dealer. Not one of those 30,000 mile jobs. Nissan parts guy said that was about the same price as replacing all the valves, guides and springs. About $500+- Delivered to my front door. I ordered the 1.4 Liter engine. Had to fabricate Motor mounts. Installed a Weber carb. I could beat anything off the line. Went to 13" tires for more top speed. Really wanted the 5 speed.

See plenty of Fiestas . Look to hold up well . Test drove a hatch and sedan when they were released .

As long as they have a manual transmission. ANY Ford product with the DPS6 abomination should be driven off a cliff (assuming it even moves under it's own power any longer).

Probably a duratech 2.0? I thought they retired the spi engine for the zetec(both available for several years) and certainly before the duratech took over.

While on the topic of larger 4 cylinder engines, Ford has the 2.3 liter 4 banger, with the turbo version to boot. I had a NA version in my 88 Ranger. Toyota had the 89 Tacoma with a 2,7 liter engine and Porsche had a 3.0 liter 4 cylinder in a special edition 944. I’m sure there are others.

Growing up even in the early 1980’s, you never saw ‘70’s Datsun models around…they rusted away SO fast.
I actually went with a neighbour as a little kid to take a 510 sedan to the junkyard…had to keep my feet up bc there was no floor in what was left of the car!!

Rust belt or Gulf Coast? A friend had a nice clean Chevy. You had to know the rear passenger seat floors were rusted out and not put pressure on the floor mat. we got stopped by the police for a search. The cop was really nasty. He started to search the back seats. Stepped right through that floor mat and hit his head on the roof. We were horrified and knew we were going to jail. He told us to get out of here and never come back.

Just saw ad for 2, 2006 and 2007. Both ST 3 door manual transmission, so Duratech DOHC
