I know the Iron is not really high but from what I have seen, higher than most Subaru UOA's.

Keep in mind though this is a 10k oci, did the other subarus run their oil for that long? I think this report is excellent. I have a subaru legacy with a NA 2.5L engine and his iron numbers are similar to mine. In his uoa and my 3 uoa's, him and I both basically have 1ppm of iron for every 1k, which ain't bad.

Thanks that makes me feel better. I looked at my two other OUA's and noticed that they too averaged approximately 1 ppm per 1k miles. Perhaps I should be at ease with these results.

Very nice report. I say that oil could go 12,000 miles with ease on your vehicle and probably further. Why wouldn't anyone be concerned with 11 Parts Per Million of Iron, especially when you car over 200,000 miles on it. Your car is wearing great and it appears the oil you have chosen is doing a excellent job. If that was my car I be going 13,000 miles on Pennzoil Plat and doing a UOA again. Take that lube the distance. Go 13,000 miles and I will send you a Napa oil analysis kit to your mailbox.

The 11 ppm iron is not high for a Subaru Boxer engine.

If you search the forum and the many Subaru forums, very few cars are below 10 ppm at 10,000 mile oci and 10 to 20 ppm is normal at 5,000 oci mileage with over 20 ppm at 5,000 miles oci not unusual.

My Impreza at 70,000 miles and 9,000 miles oci is at 19 ppm but if you look at cars over 100,000 miles or cars made from around 2008 the oil is nearer 10 ppm.

The other ware metals in this sample are also very low and it does not have the "normal" slightly higher Subaru copper reading.

Thanks again for the advice and responses folks. I'll give a 12K+ run next winter on this PP. I will probably do a timing belt change this summer since I'm at 90K on this one.
