Rotella T5 10w-30 + Bosch Premium filter

"It's another good report for this Olds 307 V-8. In fact, this is the best of the three we've seen so far. Wear metals dropped again after a longer oil run and there was nothing in this sample that would point to a mechanical problem in the works. It will be interesting to see if the change in your commute has any effect on wear. It might bring metals up a little, or maybe not. 24 miles in a day is still a quite a bit of use. Insoluble were fine at 0.3%, showing good oil filtration. The viscosity was on target for a 10W/30. Try going up to 5,500 miles next time."

16-18 in my current commute. I do get stuck in lots of construction zones.

I had one of these in an 87 Caprice Wagon, the wagons were made in the Olds plant and had the 307 instead of the Chevy 305. It was a great old soldier.

I see 4 quarts top off? Was it all T5? I don't know where the moly is coming from unless it was a different top off oil.

Top off oil was AXT 10w-30 from Family Dollar. I've run it before as the fill in my old Granada (RIP). It was decent stuff.
I have a shelf of ST, AXT, and Pronto 10w-30 qts in my garage for top-offs on all my cars. I refill them from 5qt jugs.
I'm really liking the insolubles difference in my recent switch to Bosch filters over AC and store brands.

88 Brougham, 63 Newport, 72 Fury III, 62 LeSabre...

You really like the really modern stuff almost as much as I do, huh! That's like one airbag (maybe two?) total...

With that Granada(RIP) you've also shown an affinity for all the BIG THREE: FoMoCo, MoPar and GM.

CHEERS!

My favorites are the Chryslers, but GM and Ford made some cars I like as well. For work use, I get whatever is the best deal that fits my needs and abilities.
No airbags here. These cars got the job done in their day. Others moved on, but I kept driving them.

Likely corrosion from sitting for so long before being resurrected.
Good on ya for keeping the old girl going. I bet its a smooth highway ride isn't it

I suspect that was the remainder of the oozing goo that drained out when I got the car.

This one had about 4k on the oil in it when bought and was nearly 2 qts low then. The guys at the junkyard did use this one as a parts-runner from time to time.
It rides and drives great, even the Air-ride system still works perfectly.

That first OCI was how I found the oil pan gasket leak which has since been repaired. It's handled 500-600 miles per week with no troubles.
