WW2 military tire gauge - question

I ended up with a nice looking US Property marked gauge that appears to be WW2, all brass, a foot long. Although it appears to be in working shape, when I put it on the F150 wheels it hardly moved at all. The rubber seals on the gauge appear fine but the reading end stick, instead of being the...

    Ok this makes sense . . .

This would be in the humor section except for the high loss of life. I don't think whoever came up with the group's "motivation" understands irony very well. Anti-death penalty "activists" attack and kill scads of innocent people to make their point.

    Cell phone tracking

Oh my - take a look at this story. I had no idea they could track cell calls to this degree. Very interesting. FOX news story on arson fires Check out where it says:

Will filter gaskets degrade in storage?

I am not sure that putting oil on it will help at all, my understanding is that the rubber compounds are resistant to decay from oil, not that they are helped by being in contact with it. The silicone grease is probably a better idea. My understanding is that once in service the oil will swell...

List of Big Brother Devices on vehicles

I found this on the web and thought it might be interesting to you all. Especially the disproportionate amount of GM vehicles. I am reading that these modules are being used right now in court against drivers. link to list

    F150 spare question

Would there be any damage done by running a 16 inch spare for short distances (say 50 miles or so) if the rest of the tires are 17 in? The truck is a 2001 so it does have the CVs up front and it has limited slip in the rear. Thanks for any opinions.

    ADBV life

Anyone have any experience with how long the different filters' anti drainback valves last? I changed out ASL 5W30 out at 10K miles because the engine was starting to tick slightly at startup. I suspect it was the ADBV leaking slightly. But then 10k is probably past what the filter manufacturers...

    Any G-05 switchover user updates?

Anyone having good/bad experiences after switching over from green to G-05? My warranty just ran out and am thinking of doing the switch in the fall. It is on an 01 F150. Thanks.

Big Brother in the car - "black boxes"

Big Brother in car So how can we tell which vehicles have what "black boxes" in them, and more importantly, how do we go about wrecking these? I am not much for paying people to spy on me.

DexCool on the HotRod Web site

I think that article is waay too old. Reads like a recycled article from when Dex-Cool first came out.

    Interesting Locomotive oil info

I used to volunteer at a train museum, the steam engines were lubed with grease that was packed into a threaded hole in the connecting rods and then a screw was squeezed down on it. The grease was almost as solid as an Ivory soap bar. If you made a ball of it and threw it at somebody's head it...

    2001 F150 and G-05

I have read the prior posts on the G-05 and am thinking of changing over from the green stuff as soon as my warranty is up (about 5000 miles). My questions are: are the new F150s coming factory filled with G-05? If so, is there anything remotely different in the cooling system that would make...

    Older Motor Oil Type?

I am curious to find out- I found a couple of the old 1970's cardboard sided motor oil cans, one full, and in looking them over, all they said was "Motor Oil". Nothing regarding weight, winter, summer, nothing. And this was two different brands, one I think was some Sears brand and the other...

    Mobilgrease 28

Anyone know any reason why I should not use Mobilgrease 28 that is about 10 years old but sealed in the 5 gallon pail? This would be for auto use, not aircraft use. The pail says 36 month shelf life but my guess is that is for aircraft use. I don't know too much about how it would degrade over...
