    Expedition/Explorer Ball Joints

The balljoints that Ford replaces the worn ones with are actually an updated part that seems much more durable. I have done at least a hundred sets of these. If you have over 40k miles on your Explorer or Expedtion, don't wait to have them checked out. On the Explorer request that the "excluder...

    Best Toyota Engine...

I just started an engine replacement tonight in a 220k mile 94 Corolla. Cylinders 3 and 4 are dead. My money is on burnt valves alot more than worn rings. I love my 5VZ-FE with the TRD supercharger and washer fluid injection.

    After 1 Gallon of FP60!

I would say that 80% of the 5.0 Explorers I worked on while at Ford had cracked exhaust manifolds. Sometimes the ticking would only show up under load when EGT went up. Just something to keep in mind.

how do I install drain plug in my trans pan?

I would find a stainless female 1/2" npt bung and weld that in. Get a nice 3/8" drive pipe plug like what Ford uses on the differential and tcase check plugs. No seepage, not gonna come loose.

What' it cost to replace a head gasket on a '96 Explorer?

Pull the spark plugs and take a look. One will usually be rusty. I have also see wome very green 02 sensors before on that motor indicating coolant consumption. While the intake is being done it way be wise to have the front cover gasket done at the same time if yours is leaking. Also make sure...

What' it cost to replace a head gasket on a '96 Explorer?

That must be the 4.0 OHV engine. A lot of times coolant consumption by that motor is due to a leaking intake gasket. The head gaskets fail far less than the intake although they do sometimes fail. I have seen a number of cracked heads also. Start with the intake gastket.
