Any risk to engine with slight overfill?

It was up then down for a bit, but no coolant leaks and the system is full. Took it for a good tester spin right after the change and towards the end of the run, this is when it came on...then off. A few hours later, went for another spin and it did not come on, even with some harsh acceleration...

Any risk to engine with slight overfill?

It can't be much, from my guesses. If it takes ~ 1 quart to go from empty to full on the dipstick (which covers around 25-30mm of range), then 1 mm seems like a pretty small volume. I will watch it and see what comes of it. Funny thing is now that I changed the oil, my low coolant sensor light...

Any risk to engine with slight overfill?

Hello! Did my usual oil change and added a bit more than I should have this time around into my 3.8L V6 Grand Prix. Cold oil level shows it about 1 mm or so above the fill mark (where the hash marks end). Should I be worried at all? Manuals mention overfilling is bad (which I can understand)...

    Difficult choice - Esso XD3 vs. Mobil 1 0W30

The XD3 is a 4x4L package....I believe the Mobil is in a 6x1L configuration...and the price is not insignificant as I mentioned earlier 8-) Do I read from the cSt figures above that the XD3 is slightly thicker? Does this translate into better protection, or not? All things considered, the XD3...

    Difficult choice - Esso XD3 vs. Mobil 1 0W30

A block heater is a given up here 8-) Factory installed by default on any Canadian vehicle from what I recall. It seems to me that the XD3 is winning the war; if nothing else, the much cheaper price would allow for more frequent oil changes over the Mobil for a given constant $ budget per year...

    Difficult choice - Esso XD3 vs. Mobil 1 0W30

Can we assume that the XD3 with a slightly thicker run will offer more protection or is that relevant? It will be a year-round oil, and will be exposed to +30C down to -35C or so...we only see the real deep freeze at the -35C area for about 3 weeks total in the winter, so it is not that bad -...

    Difficult choice - Esso XD3 vs. Mobil 1 0W30

At least the Canucks get one break 8-) Does Mobil (I assume they do) add extra friction modifiers to squeak into the "Energy Conserving" class over the XD3? One would think both being the same V-range (more or less) that they will perform the same. I was shocked at the difference per/L when I...

    Difficult choice - Esso XD3 vs. Mobil 1 0W30

I have two choices here for my new '05 Subaru Outback H6 engine....help?! Going to 0W30 is a given, as we are about to enter the deep cold here (-30C) in a few months, so that is a no-brainer. My dilemma is the choice between these two fine oils. I use the XD3 0W40 in my diesel Jetta with...
