    1990 Evinrude 140 looper - Outboard Tech?

Hi, if there is a OMC tech that can help? I would like to know what you think a good idle speed and ignition timing would be for a healthy 1990 140 looper? Shop manual recommends 600-800 in gear on the water at 8 degrees BTD. So, in a barrel in neutral might be what?

    Evinrude/Johnson VRO

The VRO was updated over the years to handle alcohol in fuel. You can buy rebuild kits. It is a fuel pump too. On my 140 rude it works as a fuel pump. If you premix you might need to keep the VRO as a fuel pump and fool the engine it is getting oil? There is information out there to do this. Not...

    Rod Knock

It's a 06 3.5 V6 and runs like a champ. I would like to repair but everyone says I would be wasting my time and money. They claim I could be extremely careful and use new crank and bearings ($1,000)and they will fail too? A short block is $3,000 from Honda. Seems like the smart way to go.

Honda V6 rear main seal leak - help with ideas

The dip stick is reading barely over the lower line. So, it's not over filled. I'm not 100% on whether the PCV system is working correctly though. When filler cap is off I'm not sensing any vacuum at all.

Honda V6 rear main seal leak - help with ideas

Thanks for the quick repies. I have never used a additive to a motor before. All though the Honda has almost 100k on it. You know it should be good for another 100k with some TLC.. So, I'm hesitant to use a additive with out know if there are long term effects.

Honda V6 rear main seal leak - help with ideas

Hi, my wifes 2007 pilot seems to be leaking oil out rear main seal. I changed PCV and degreased engine thoroughly to trace leak. I'm getting close to adding something to oil to condition the seal and reduce or hopefully stop leak? Any suggestions on what not to do or what to do?

Mercon SP in GM trans.. Is it OK? Dex lll was OEM

I fully agree. I looked closely at the Mercon bottle and it states not to be used where Mercon LV, Mercon V or F fluids are to used. I'm going to use the Mercon SP as a flush. Originally Posted By: dnewton3 I would caution all of you against blind assumptions here, and I'll give an example...

Decarbonizing intake port - Walnut media/solvent??

The valves looked great before and after. I very pleased to see bronze valve guides. With intake, DISA, and Vanos cleaned and or rebuilt this little mill should run great for another 100k. We replaced a weak/stuck thermostat too. Motor was not getting over 170 degrees. It's likely that the stat...
