It has been 6 months since the AT fluid change, the car is running fine, except for a broke down with new distributor and plugs/wires. Cold start at 10's degrees F is okay too. I have only put 500 miles on it. We use the Prius more for longer trips. Advance Auto Parts has the Castrol AT fluid...

Anyhow, I am glad I went to NGK now, which is supposedly OEM. The old Bosch plugs had 20k miles on me, mostly short trips. But who knows how long they were used before me.

The center electrodes look so tiny comparing to other long life platinum/iridium designs.

They should be in the car at least 4 years (since I owned the car) but not too many miles. They look quite eroded. The tiny electrodes at the center are actually receded into the insulator. I don't understand how they can use such a design. I think they are discontinued? Replaced with NGK Laser...

After 4 months and a few hundred miles, the noise is completely gone!

The shop is going to change the distributor for $478, parts and labor included. I will do spark plugs are wires later myself. Got a good BF deal from AAP, $6 NGK Laser Iridium and $34 NGK wire set. I hope I will be done from here. I just want to spend the least amount to keep it on road until I...

The mechanics said no spark. Still haven't found out the cause though.

The noise is almost all gone now after I flushed it with 1/2 quart of Castrol IMV ATF and 3oz of Lubegard Red.

I decided to do the drain and fill early and one last time. Last time was one month ago. There are quite a bit of metal shaves on the drain plug, I'm glad I cleaned that. I used 3.5 quarts of Castrol Import Multi ATF with some Lubegard. By the way the plug is 24mm.
