    Best 20W-50 for marine engines???

Here's another vote for Merc 25w40 oil. It's the best I've seen for marine engines.

    Best Oil for Marine Application

I just traded my fire-breathing 509 (Thoroughbred 26) for twin 502 MagEFI's in a 38 Stryker Thunder. Yeah, just in time for 4 buck gas! I'm sticking with 20 hour oil changes and Delo 40...

Alternative to Mobil1 for oil burning Isuzu

On my 1999 3.5L Trooper I switched to 15/40 Rotella, and it cured the consumption issue. It just doesn't use oil anymore. Can't explain it, but it worked...

    Mercedes E430, M1 0w40 6000 miles

Hey JAG, check this out. Here's a UOA from same model car, same older 0w40 at 13k miles. Look familiar? It's Tri-syn. I'll bet the dealership still had a drum or two... '01 E430 Oil Analysis Result - FSS & Mobil 1 @ 13K Miles '01E430: I promised I'd post results of my oil analysis and I have...

    Mercedes E430, M1 0w40 6000 miles

JAG, could this be the old Tri-Syn formulation? It jibes with some old UOA's I've seen.

    Mercedes E430, M1 0w40 6000 miles

I'm a boat owner, so I used my Jabsco oil extractor. It's a 12v Jabsco pump mounted on a five gallon bucket. Sucked it right out of there... Believe it or not, gets more oil out than draining on this particular model.

    Mercedes E430, M1 0w40 6000 miles

The dealership that did the last oil change told me they use only M1 0w40 and Mann Fleece on my model year car. That's all I have to go on. But in comparing to other MB's on this forum, with this oil, the numbers are not far off.I'll do another UOA when it's time for another change... might be a...

    Mercedes E430, M1 0w40 6000 miles

The rear main seal was replaced under warranty 5500 miles prior to the oil change, so I'm guessing the oil was changed then. I do have the records that show 13k oil changes for the life of the vehicle up to that time. So my 6k guess it probably pretty close. Also, that was the EASIEST oil...

    Mercedes E430, M1 0w40 6000 miles

We bought this car used a couple of weeks ago. The service records show that the PO had used the FSS computer to trigger oil changes. Average was 13k miles OCI. Oil used was M1 0w40 and Mann Fleece filter. When I changed it, (and pulled this sample), the FSS was indicating 7700 miles to oil...

    mercruiser 25/40

Good choice on the Delo 400. I recently bought 22 gallons of new Delo 40wt from a guy who repowered his 46' Post sportfish. His new engines require 15/40 so he sold me the whole shebang for fifty bucks! So you know what I'll be using! Yeah, Walmart down here jacked the price of the Merc oil...

    mercruiser 25/40

I do twenty hour oil changes on the 509 (T-Bred), 30 hours on the 351W (Donzi). That's about four times a year on the Thoroughbred and 3 times a year on the Donzi. I've been running Kendall 20w50 based on Mercruiser's recommendation on their 600sci, 850sci and 1075sci. Been performing pretty...

    mercruiser 25/40

Just curious, why don't you like the Merc oil? Check out the UOA I posted on my friend's HP525's. It's a pretty strong package. I'm thinking about switching from the Kendall I'm using to Merc 25/40 based on this report...

    Filter Question

I know this is an old post, but I thought I'd add to it anyway... On my Kohler 20 vtwin I use an ST8 filter. I happened to have one nearby for my Donzi's 351w, so I looked at the threads and the gasket... Voila! The same as the dinky Kohler filter, with a MUCH bigger can. So on it went. Good...

    End of the Season

I can't see you pics, but sounds like you had a great summer! We did, too! Ran five Poker Runs, paced the Biloxi races in my buddy's 42' Sonic, rented two big houseboats on Lake Travis for a long weekend and besides all that: We spent nearly every weekend on the water! BTW: No end of season...

Mercruiser 25w40 in Merc Racing HP525

No, this is not my boat. It belong to my friend, Bill. It is a 2005 Sonic 42 with twin Mercury Racing HP525EFI's. If any of you saw the Smokin' the Sound race this year in Biloxi (sniff), it was the pace boat. After seeing this UOA, I may switch...

Oil Temperature for Air Cooled Engine

A Supertech ST8 (PH8 in Fram, BIG FILTER) fits just fine on my Kohler, and at least twice as big as that little (expensive) Kohler filter. BTW, if you do not own an infrared temp gun: BUY ONE! They are great for taking the guess work out of estimating engine temps. I just shoot the filter...
