Update to my post a couple of years ago. Still using M1 15w-50 in Ktm 1290, I did drop the oil change interval to 3k which is close to a years local riding, working very well at 12k miles total.

In my mind there is big difference between domesticated kitty cats and wild ferral cats. The wild ones are nasty, I have dispatched hundreds. But I have NEVER targeted one with a collar, might be someone's pet.

I have been using a toilet paper bypass oil filter on a primitive 20/2 listeroid slow speed diesel for years with excellent results. The piston oil pump circulates 1.5 oz per minute through the filter and it really works well.
