Ecoboost first gen , a bit confused with oil choice

I've got a 2016 gen 1 eco boost. Fuel dilution has been a problem from day #1. But it's got 206,000 miles on it, about 80k of them towing. Engine runs as smooth as the day it left the lot with 15 miles. I run Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0w40. Doesn't burn a drop. Oil analysis has shown that it...

Just inherited a car that hasn't been driven since 1993

Exactly. It's not about the investment. It's about the story and the memories of it. My dad was a line worker at the Norwood GM plant in Cincinnati Ohio. He worked there from 66 till the closed the plant in 87 (or 88). I also had the true joy and pleasure of working with dad at the plant for a...

Just inherited a car that hasn't been driven since 1993

Pretty sure it is an electric Quadjet. As a side not. That very same year I had an intern job at the factory that produced them. My job for about a week was connecting the wire harness leads to the TBI throttle bottle on the cars that had those (I skipped the carbed models). Did a number of...

Just inherited a car that hasn't been driven since 1993

I don't know yet. It's still at the back of a very full garage and most of my time has been focused on other estate things. I've gotten to spend about 15 minutes with it so far. (which was basically sitting in the drivers seat and being mentally transported back to being 20 again when I last...

I will. It's in Ohio and I live in North Carolina. I'm going back up later in January and I'll take some pics. I probably won't transport it to NC till the Summer.

Just inherited a car that hasn't been driven since 1993

As the title states, I just inherited a car that hasn't been driven since 1993. It was my fathers car. It's a 1986 Camaro Z28. It's rather unique and that it was a prototype for the convertible models of Camaros which followed in 1987. This car means alot to me. I only drove it a few times...

    F150 ecoboost 2016 ~95,000 miles. High Oxidation

Hi folks I was hoping someone could help me interpet this latest result. For the prior oil changes I was mostly using Amsoil SS, but a few cycles were Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. Anyway this latest cycle I used Redline 0W40. Ive read that Ester based oils handle fuel dilution better which as you...

    Dealer says 5-20 ok when 5-30 spec'd

It's not ok in that engine. Those engines have alot of fuel dilution. Ford specs a thicker oil specifically because it quickly dilutes down to 5w20. Starting at 5w20, you'll quickly dilute down to 5w1x

Amsoil 10W40 WCF. Yetboat 244 hour 15 hours on o

Just did my first oil analysis on my boat engines. I'm surprised that they flagged the add packs as being different from what they expected. My guess is that since I stocked up on oil a year or two ago, that maybe Amsoil changed the formulation. Also - the I ran ZDDP Plus in the Port engine...
