Tricks to making car batteries last a lot longer?

I have had decent luck with making my batteries last 2.5 to 5 years. I have read where some people are getting up to 15 years or more out of their batteries. I know the basics such as dont completely discharge a lead acid battery, and dont keep it partially charged for very long. What other...

Anyone have experience with AUTO EXTRA filters?

The part number is 61851394 at Rockauto.com, and they only want $1.85 for it. Direct Link I would like to know if it is made by Wix, as the filter diagram looks very similar to a Wix, and if so is it the same thing as a Napa Silver filter? Thanks

    Bosch Distance Plus filter specs

Are some Bosch Distance Plus filters spec'd at 40 micron, and some at 20 micron? The reason I ask is when looking up these filters at Advance Auto, they state "Efficiency: 40 mc". The filters I am interested in are the d3330, d3332, and the d3311. If they are all spec'd at 40 micron, then it...

    Are Toyota filters any good?

I know they used to be but have heard they cheapened the product over the past few years. Would I be better off with a Pure 1, Bosch premium/distance+?

Is AMSOIL Signature Series a good clean out oil?

Specifically the ATM 10w-30. I ask because in the past I have heard that switching to a synthetic oil will clean out the sludge and varnish from an engine that has not previously used a synthetic oil before. Have also heard that some oils do this more than others- Group 5 oils will clean up...

Is doing a complete ATF change a real bad idea?

Or is it a good idea? When I say total change, I mean changing as much of the fluid as I can by removing the cooler line and have it going to a bucket while pouring in new ATF while the engine is running- after I drop pan and replace filter. No flush chemicals, additives or "force flush" machine...

Is Dexron VI a good choice for my transmission

I plan to change the ATF in a 2001 Olds Alero with 95k miles on it. I know Olds came out with a TSB that stated that Dexron VI should be used, replacing Dexron III. Exactly why or what was said in the TSB I do not know. I have done some reading on Dex 6, and found that some older Allison...

    Walmart Dexron VI ATF question

I looked at the price at WM, and is $4.17 a qt. where I am, and any other brand anywhere else is twice that. It seems to me that they have to be skimping on additives or something to get the price down that low. Is the WM Dexron VI really that good?
