Better MPG and power - Volvo timing belt?

About a year ago, I had the belt/tensioner/idler/WP changed when I owned my S60 2.5T. Most obvious effect of the change was the engine being much more quick to rev. Just recently did the same timing service on my '05 XC90 with the 2.5T, as well. Noted the same improvements as OP - I'm fairly...

Today's Test Drive: 2015 Mustang GT

MCompact, Was the '15 Mustang you drove still in "Vehicle Transport Mode" by any chance? From what I've heard, power is limited while it's in that mode, and that may have contributed to how slow it felt.

Confused By Volvo Owner's Manual Viscosity Chart

I'll third the Euro-oil suggestions, especially with the turbo. My S60 runs either M1 0W-40 or GC 0W-30. I actually prefer the GC, engine feels just a touch smoother to rev - but both seem to hold up very well to the turbo's strain on oil.

    best looking behinds

I'm biased, but I'm quite partial to the 05-09 Volvo S60's rear design. The 2015 Mustang is dead sexy from the back, too.

Any info on the Lincoln 4 .6 L InTech V8-

The 32-valve 4.6L is a wonderful engine. However, things to look out for: -Intake Manifold Runner Controls - worst on the '96 Mark VIII, but not great on all years. They can stick and cause a serious drop in low-RPM torque. -Timing chains (especially on earlier year Lincoln 4.6s) rattle at...

Does Toyota make the best automotive a/c?

My Volvo S60 gets COLD. Heat is actually fantastic, too. Best overall HVAC system I've had. The '04 Mustang GT I had before was not as fortunate. No leaks or anything.. but the AC really struggled (and put a noticeable damper on engine performance, in combination with the pulled timing in the...

Sticking brake question; 05 Volvo S60

Used plenty of Sil-Glyde on the back of pads, on slide pins, and on contact points (the pads have little "ears" that ride on the caliper brackets.) Pads were easy, so unless they're defective (Power Stop Z16 from RockAuto...) I'd guess it's not them.

Sticking brake question; 05 Volvo S60

Alright, BITOG, I've posted this on Swedespeed as well for Volvo-specific knowledge, but I figured I'd ask here, too. My question is as follows, car is a 2005 Volvo S60 2.5T AWD. -I replaced my front brakes and rotors with a "One-Click Brake Kit" from RockAuto a couple weeks ago. Had to...

Car with worst cruise control you had?

I'll second/third (whichever it is) the comments regarding the Chrysler minivan family cruise control stalk. It's floating in space on the bottom right quadrant of the steering column and I've never been able to commit the directions to memory. However, on the flipside, the cruise in my Volvo...

    Pirelli Cinturato P7 A/S

I've got them on my Volvo S60. Nice traction in dry conditions. A little prone to vague response in the rain, but it doesn't matter to me as much with AWD. Treadlife warranty is quite good on the P7, and with 15k or so on them, visible treadwear is minimal. Fairly quiet tread pattern, and they...

Holy cow! 18.6 mpg with 2004 Crown Vic

G-MAN, I hope you used anti-seize when you did the plugs! I didn't on my old Mustang, and lost a plug to the infamous 4.6L spark plug blow-out.

    0W-20 vs. 5W-20 in Modular V-8

Back when I had my '04 Mustang, I used 0W-20 AFE in the winter. Loved how easy the car was to crank, seemed to get up to temp a little quicker, too. It did use oil a little more noticeably than with the previous fill of PP 5W-20.

    Crown Victoria heater problems

You may want to check the wire running from the EATC to the blower motor. I'm not sure of the specifics of the Crown Vic with that EATC unit as opposed to my Mark VIII... but I've heard many cases of the wire getting too hot and starting to break free (or fry the connector if it's not soldered)...

Ford lost their better idea with the Lincoln MKX

In my (biased) opinion, Lincoln needs to roll out a Mark IX to compete. Ford has the perfect base for it - stretch the new, independent-rear-suspension Mustang platform and give it a 5.0.
