Advice on car for work, lots of driving

In the next few months, I may be accepting a different position, which would require a significant amount of driving each week. I would like to get your suggestions for a good vehicle for lots of miles, highway and some city. Top price is $32K. Would be more comfortable at $25K. Nothing older...

    Fun Hypothetical ...

You just won the MegaMillions Lottery. What car/truck/van do you buy with your new riches? I'd get a MB E63 AMG. Probably other sweet rides also in the future, but that is a nice start.

    Crabgrass in lawn

I have a newly seeded (early May) lawn that has a crabgrass problem. Front yard gets full sun basically all day, and that's where it's the worst. I'm not sure if spraying a weed and feed is appropriate yet. I want the yard to look great next year, and plan to fertilize and overseed this fall...

    Whatever happened to "HangerHarley"?

This guy had a bajillion posts in like, 4 months. He definitely subscribed to the "fix it from a bottle" school of thought regarding a Ford Probe, I think. His posts were definitely, umm (how to put this nicely), humorous. I did not check this board much from September to April, but now it...

Motor Oil U - makes me wonder...

Mr. Haas has got me thinking. I have a 2001 Chrysler Sebring with the 2.7L V6. It calls for 5w-30, and that's what it has always gotten. Would using a 0w-20 negatively affect the engine? It has no mechanical issues, and has 112K on it. Runs well. According to the article, I will experience...

Marine 2 cycle oil in line trimmer?

Is this ill advised? Pennzoil's 2 cycle oil says it's for water cooled 2 strokes. There can't be that much difference, right? Would I kill my poor (air-cooled) line trimmer using this, or is it splitting hairs to worry?

    01 Sebring - Noisy!

Two separate sounds that my car makes, and it should not. Any suggestions you guys have on eliminating these would be appreciated. 1. Engine, when first started, is rattling/grumbling. Sounds internal, but it runs fine, feels strong, etc. Goes away when warm, even a little before. 2. Going...

    Selling a used riding mower?

Has anyone ever had good luck doing this? I recently moved to a home with a much smaller yard, and would like to get rid of my Craftsman riding mower. All I need now is a push mower, riding in a .25 acre lot is ridiculous. Have you ever had success selling a riding mower? Can you get a good...

Mix G-05 (Yellow) and regular Prestone (Green)?

Will there be any adverse effects if I mix these two coolants? I have 4 qts of the Prestone and about 1-2 quarts of the G-05. The final mixture would be 4 quarts of the Prestone and less than 1 quart of the G-05. Both say they can be mixed with any other coolant. Thanks.

    Who likes trucks (big ones)?

Found this earlier. Could never afford or drive one (gas or diesel alone would be killer), but they have a certain attractiveness. Don't know why. Big Honkin Trucks

    Magnefine vs. Spin on Kit

I'm thinking of adding a remote transmission filter on my Sebring. It will be installed shortly after a pan drop and complete fluid and factory filter change. I've looked for info by searching this site (and Googled), but does anyone prefer Magnefine over one of the other kits (B&M or Perma...

    draining atf concern

Plan to change trans fluid soon. If I pump fluid out of my tranny by disconnecting a cooler line, do I have to worry about air being trapped after? On a 01 Sebring, 93K.

Using a PL 20195 on 24 hp B&S, oil pressure?

Would the bigger media and can size negatively affect the oil pressure in the engine? I know I will need to add a bit more oil to the engine once the filter is full of oil. I'd like to go up a size, and I can use the 10241, but the 20195 is about an inch longer (and more media). It makes sense...

NOT Trolling: Best Weights/Viscosities of M1

Not trolling, I would use the search function, but it kinda sucks. Are there certain viscosities of M1 that are better than others? I'm considering using it in two vehicles, one requires 5w-20, the other requires 5w-30. Neither will be an extended run, one for warranty purposes, the other is a...

Recommend a Synthetic for my Mower

I have a Craftsman Mower, B&S 24 hp engine. Bought it new last year, and have 43 hours on it. I changed the oil once (winter storage) already, it now has PYB 5w-30 in it. I'll change the oil again at 50 hours. No oil consumption noted at all. I live where the summer will hit the upper 80's...

Why is Mobil 1 such a lightning rod?

I get it, somewhat. They are the market leader (?), and in some people's minds the best synthetic oil generally available. It just seems like Mobil 1 really polarizes people into two camps. It seems political, really. 1. Love it, have always used it, always will. 2. Look at the IRON!! I'll...

    Findings upon draining 2.7L Chrysler

I've been using PP (5K ocis) in my Sebring since I found BITOG, a little over a year ago. Many thanks to all. The chrysler 2.7l has a rep as a sludger, but is not showing any evidence in my particular case (fill hole looks clean, no issues yet). About two years ago, the oil light would flicker...

    Difference in Valvoline Synthetics?

I've been a lurker for over a year. Decided it's time to jump in the discussions. This forum has been a great source of information (and entertainment). Of course, now my wife thinks I'm crazy b/c I talk about motor oil differences/advantages, etc. I'm curious about the difference in the...
