I used to have an old Camry with over 240k miles on it. It would burn a quart of oil about every 500 miles or so like clockwork. Since it burned so much I would just buy the cheapest 10w30 I could find, it didn't matter what brand. I had another toyota that took 5w20 and required 4.5 quarts, so...
Somebody needs to invent an oil vending machine. You bring a jug and insert your credit card, you tell the machine you want 4.8 quarts of mobil 1 0w20 and it gives you exactly that much. It would prevent plastic going in the landfill and you wouldn't have .2 quarts of oil leftover and you...
I hate the Jiffy Lube type places. At the VIOC place they told my wife she should replace her battery, like it has some kind of age limit. A battery is good until it's bad, you don't replace it at 36,000 miles just because. Thankfully she turned them down, but she did let them sell her an air...

I've used wix 57055 on my Impreza for a while. They only leak if you don't get them on tight enough. I've had that happen once and even then it was maybe 1/3 of a teaspoon worth of oil after 400 miles of driving. If the filter location was under the car I would have never noticed, it's not a...
Thanks for the advice everybody. I already bought the oil and filter before making this post (wix filter and harvest king 10w-30 conventional) so i decided to go with the rislone instead of going with an entirely different oil. I'll consider some of the other suggestions the next time around though.

So I have a car from the early 70's with the original engine and about 85,000 miles. I picked up some standard SN conventional 10w-30 and I'm wondering if there's an additive that could boost the ZDDP levels a bit. I know they have specialty oils for this, but I only drive the car maybe 200...
I think I've decided to go with M1 AFE and an OEM filter from now on. It's not the cheapest option, but I think it's a good quality option. Unless of course I see a good sale on another brand. For regular everyday prices I think the M1 AFE is about the best bang for your buck.

I went with a Subaru OEM...
Just hit 6000 miles and changed the oil to 0w20 Magnatec. I've never really used castrol much but it was on sale and the regular price is around 21 dollars or so at walmart. I've heard rumors that Subaru's can be a little bit picky about oil especially M1. I bought this car new and plan on...
Here's a pic of my 71 Impala Custom coupe with 85k original miles (same car as the caprice). It's got the 2 barrel 350 and I currently use Rotella T 10W30 and it runs great.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I haven't really decided if i want to stick with Rotella or go with Mobil1 high mileage. The M1 is tempting since it's still SL rated.
I needed to replace the valve cover gaskets on my car so i thought I would snap a pic for you guys. It's the original 350 with 84k miles. The previous owner bought the car new and used Quaker State exclusively until I got the car in 2007. I"ve continued using Quaker state until a couple weeks...
One of the local WMs near me used to carry Castrol and SuperTech ATF. The Castrol was put on clearance a couple months ago. Today i noticed a shelf full of max life ATF at 3.67 per quart. So, at least one store switched from Castrol to Max Life.
