Lots of variables worldwide, not least of which is gas quality and composition. I don;t think it makes sense to have a universal standard recipe oil, for a wildly different environment, but where they are similar....I'm sure your point is valid.

It's silly to NOT use a 502 or 504 spec oil if still in warranty period, IMO. Why chance a potentially very expensive issue if something breaks and Audi finds out you did not use a spec oil...and refuses to pay? It doesn't matter if the oil has NOTHING to do with the issue.....I'd prefer to...

That oil meets VW 504 spec, thus I believe it has to have at LEAST HTHS 3.5

I'm coming up for my 5600 mile UOA of PU 5W-40 Euro to compare against the Castrol SLX Pro OE 5W-30 at the same mileage. The PU is definitely blacker...which probably means it is doing soemthing with regards cleaning. I hope.

FWIW, any oil marketed as synthetic in Germany has to be minimum Grp IV, I believe.
