    4L80E TCC Not Locking

I can try that, but I have a Scangage showing tranny temps of about 130-150-deg. Wouldn't a restriction cause much higher temperatures, well over 200-deg?

    4L80E TCC Not Locking

Tranny guy hooked up Snapon scanner and it showed no codes. Drove vehicle and it shifted smoothly through all 4 gears. Scanner showed no codes. Showed no slippage in 4th gear, indicating TCC was activated. I asked why when shifting into 4th, the scanner should show slippage, then a few seconds...

    4L80E TCC Not Locking

Purchased. Could not get it to connect to my phone, so I returned it. Still looking for a scanner that can read transmission codes. It is very hard to determine if a particular scanner will or not. Very frustrating.

    Tire Protectant

My main interest is finding a good tire protectant to prevent the sidewall from cracking. There are a ton of tire dressings out there, but I want protection from UV, ozone and whatever else causes a tire to deteriorate. I have used 303 going back 25 years. It has worked OK but price has gone...

    4L80E TCC Not Locking

Any suggestions for a scanner that can access transmission trouble codes for this 06 Express van?

    4L80E TCC Not Locking

Regarding a scanner, getting one with capabilities like ABS bleed would be handy. Quick search shows units like Foxwell NT630 or HF Zurich units. Not sure how to tell if they can get transmission level codes.

    4L80E TCC Not Locking

I had OReillys check for codes but they showed none. Looks like a more advanced reader is needed. I am OK buying a scanner. Any suggestions on a good one for a DIY guy like myself?

Brake Caliper Pins: One Has 3 Flats, Other One No Flats. Where Do They Go?

OK, here are two links that have discussion on some Hondas and a page from the service manual (Sorry I don’t know how to put pictures in here, thus the links). This one shows the caliper at the front of the rotor. The cylinder pin (with no flats) is in the top hole, which is at the leading...

Brake Caliper Pins: One Has 3 Flats, Other One No Flats. Where Do They Go?

Decided to replace the caliper pins on my 2006 Chevrolet Express 3500 van. Removed the caliper pins not paying attention to them. Went to put in the new pins and noticed one pin has 3 flat sections about 1/8-inch wide running along the length. The other pins has no flat sections. Could find...

    Bridgestone Weatherpeak

At 3 months and 1500 miles the Weatherpeaks are doing OK. About a month ago I had a TPMS sensor changed. When they reinstalled the tire it got a bubble in it when they inflated. So that tire was replaced. Earlier this week I noticed a minor vibration and took it back to Discount Tire. They said...

First Transmission Fluid Change at High Mileage (100,000+)?

I was hoping that there might be a professional transmission specialist on this forum that could weigh in on their experiences with vehicles coming into their shop with transmission problems and might have some insight for us. Not sure how many techs frequent this forum. I'm just a reasonably...

First Transmission Fluid Change at High Mileage (100,000+)?

Do you mean using the transmission to pump the old fluid out? That's #3 on my list. Do you mean using an external machine to pump the old fluid out and new fluid in? That's #4 on my list.

Aquaintance has trouble getting engine fixed ... This is sad

How much would a quality rebuilt engine install cost? Assuming of course you could find someone to do it.

First Transmission Fluid Change at High Mileage (100,000+)?

If only 2 quarts come out from a drain, and the total capacity is 6.7 quarts, then the numbers look even worse. One drain and fill yields a mix of new to old of: 30% new - 70% old Two drain and fill yields a mix of new to old of: 51% new - 49% old Three drain and fill yields a mix of new to old...

First Transmission Fluid Change at High Mileage (100,000+)?

One Drain and fill will leave a lot of old oil in the system. I don't know the actual numbers for the 6-speed transmission on my 2010 Camry as I see several listed on the internet. I am assuming 2.6 qt drain and fill and 6.7 qt total. (Please update if you have more accurate capacities). One...

First Transmission Fluid Change at High Mileage (100,000+)?

Thanks for the details. I will have to see if the transmission line is easy to remove. I did my 2010 Camry last year at 80,000 miles by draining, filling, then removing transmission line at the cooler and running a quart out, stopping engine, and replacing a quart. This is how I have done...
