Friend of mine owns a auto parts shop and has both Carquest and Champ oil filters for my 06 v6 Toyota 4Runner any thoughts on what is a better filter? I do know that the Champ labs filter is a non e-core filter.

I was wondering if German Castrol 0-30 would be ok to run in my 2006 Ford Focus that calls for 5-20 oil? I know that GC is on the thick side of a 30 weight.

Good friend of mine works for a Ford Dealership and says he has seen many a leased car get turned in that has never had an oil change in like 20,000 miles. He said if it sounds fine they just change the oil and sell it to the next guy!

Would I be correct in saying that cheep oils either dino or synthetic have a less robust add pack compared to the major brands? Is the add pack where most of the cost in modern oil comes from?

A few weeks ago I posted a real good UOA on The Shell Full Synthetic that I run in my Toyota 4runner and despite this 4.0 v6 being hard on oil the Shell works quite well for me.

Does oil flow rate GPM change with RPM or is it the same once the car/truck is up to temp regardless if it's at 1,000 rpm or say 6,000 rpm?

Yes why not? there are many oversize filters for my app according to Toyota 4runner.org. I am just wondering if the buypass setting would be different going to the larger size?

I decided to run a larger filter on my Toyota 4Runner 06 V6 I installed a Motorcraft FL-400S last night and I got to thinking could it be a problem if the bypass pressure setting is different from the stock smaller Denso filter setting? Is this something to be worried about going oversized?

This may make me re-think putting in the GC I just bought? Maybe it will go in the wife's car? You think GC will be ok in a Ford Focus?

Yes it's the 4.0 V6 I just posted a UOA on this site running Shell Full Synthetic and the results were quite good except the TBN was a bit low after only 5,400 miles.

Does high RPM cause shearing? or is it engine design? Is a high winding turbocharged car more likely to shear oil faster then say moms suv that does not have to work hard? Do oils today shear less then oils from say 10 years ago?
