What are the major differences in the engine cleaners?

Right now I have Auto-Rx in my engine (cleaning phase), Soy Ultra (131C) in my gas tank (full bottle for cleaning), and Neutra as a stabilizer in the gas containers I use for my lawn equipment. I'll probably switch from Soy Ultra to just Neutra when my stock runs out. I'm thinking about using...

    What are you tired of?

    1. People who blow their nose while seated at the table in a restaurant. 2. EVERYTHING sold in America being made in China. 3. Greedy American companies who dispose of American jobs to have their products made in another country (did I mention that everything is made in China?). 4. Walmart

    That's exactly what I did.

    Over-tightened transmission pan bolt

While reinstalling my transmission pan, I tightened a bolt too much and stripped the pan (not the bolt itself). I reapplied more LocTite and put the bolt back in, just to have something there. So far there's no leak; maybe because this happened in a corner of the pan where the adjacent bolts are...

Best oil for Toyota 3.0L V6? (question for Terry)

I guess I also wouldn't worry too much about the oil I used if I had 2000-mile OCIs. But I like to go about 6 months between changes, which is about 5000 miles. Normally this wouldn't be too much for a good conventional oil, but the Toyota 3.0L V6 isn't exactly normal. [ January 06, 2005...

Best oil for Toyota 3.0L V6? (question for Terry)

Terry, in this thread, you wrote: Did you settle on one oil as being the "best" for your Avalon? If you've chosen one oil and are using additives in it, would you still consider it to be the "best" even without the additives? What's your OCIs? Brent

    Neutra as an oil additive?

My local NAPA doesn't carry it, yet. Do you have NAPA's part number for the Neutra?

    M1 full synthetic DexronIII/ Mercon

Sorry pennzoil_guru, don't want to hijack your post, but I need to ask Big John a question. Big John, where did you have your trans flushed? Did they flush it with M1, or with something else and then drain/refill with M1? The couple of places that I called said that they flush with regular...

    Oil dispersant and ARX

Hmmmm....Alkylsuccinimides, alkylsuccinic esters, and mannich reaction products? I was hoping that I could use the VOAs on this site to determine which oils have the highest level of dispersants, but I can see that this won't be possible. I've decided that I'm going to use Chevron Delo 400...

    Oil dispersant and ARX

Since anything that's liquified remains suspended in the oil, wouldn't this use the oil's dispersant additive(s)? If it does, then I would want to get an oil with the highlest level of additive(s)...right? Which additives are dispersants? Thanks! Brent

    Oil dispersant and ARX

Is an oil's dispersant additive(s) what carries away the contaminants that ARX dislodges/dissolves? If so, then would it be better to use an oil (for the rinse phase) that has the most dispersant, or does this not matter? My fear is, if my Sienna has sludge, that I'll use an oil for the rinse...

Question about changing automatic trans fluid

I'm going to drain the (original factory) ATF from my 2000 Toyota Sienna, and replace it with Mobil 1 ATF. Since the existing fluid will have around 51,000 miles on it (and will have Auto-Rx in it) when I drain it, I'd like to drain/refill it again soon after the first drain/refill to remove as...

What to do about grit/crud on Toyota oil-fill baffle?

I have a 2000 Toyota Sienna that has a baffle within the oil-fill area. I've searched this forum and discovered that a build-up of crud on this baffle is normal, but I couldn't locate any information about what, if anything, should be done about it. My concern is that I'll knock some of the...

What to do about grit/crud on Toyota oil-fill baffle?

I don't want to get hung-up on the phrase "build up", because this can mean different things to different people. It would help if I could figure out how to upload a picture here... But since I can't, I'll just say that I get gritty oil on my finger when I rub the baffle. To me, this is a...

    Latest Corrosion Test Results

Yes. In fact, the instructions on the bottle say to apply only a very thin layer. If too thick of a layer is applied, then it doesn't dry properly and leaves a gummi residue. When applied properly it dries "to the touch" with no residue.

Oil's benefits still exist after being wiped away?

Mystic, I've never used water after using Mirachem 500; I only use a clean, dry cloth to wipe it off. As for it being water-based, this isn't a problem as long as the gun isn't put away wet and unprotected with oil. Mirachem also makes a gun-specific cleaner that's based on the 500 product, but...

Oil's benefits still exist after being wiped away?

FP-10 update Since FP-10 is supposed to provide excellent rust protection -- according to feedback from many people on various web sites -- and since it didn't do well in my nail test (see my second post in this thread) I decided to do another test. But this time I used a newer bottle of...

Oil's benefits still exist after being wiped away?

Mystic, I don't have any personal experience with using SG to clean my gun, but I have tried their Grill Cleaner product -- it didn't make a dent in the built-up grease (and carbon?) in my grill! I seem to remember reading that SG (the regular cleaner, not the grill cleaner) can harm certain...
