Amsoil Severe Gear 75-90 vs Factory Fill

II swapped an 8.8 and D-35 from a '92 Explorer into my BII more than 150,000 miles ago, and filled with Severe Gear. I have no idea how many original miles they had. It is my work truck, and I pull a trailer and a boat, and get into some pretty nasty mud from time to time. No issues what so...

    moly additive?

Lets see...you left a spent filter in your rig and added moly, and were surprised that you clogged the filter. Yeah, I can see why you wouldn't use the moly... -zz

    moly additive?

Can you give some insight as to why you think you got different results than Bob? Is Bob's study a scam? Is there some variable that could make a difference? I appreciate your time here.

Need advice on buying 1992 BMW 525i

Wow, I'd have jumped all over that for a couple hundred bucks. I bought my daughter an '89 735i w/170k for $1500, and although I've put about a grand into it, it's not any more expensive (for most items) to fix than the wife's Ford, or my old BII (330k mi, btw). But you never know what may be...

    Amsoil gear oil stability test

Hype and marketing is one thing, like the ad that says Valvoline Syn is 4 times better than Mobil 1, which is nothing but hyperbole, and means nothing. On the other hand, when real tests are done and the results posted for anyone to see, then you go beyond hype. In this case you provide...

    Amsoil gear oil stability test

At $14 a quart, why would you use anything other than AMSOIL? (I know their marketing and availability sucks!). Heck, I just went to buy some regular gear lube, and it was $6-$7 a pint, so why not get the good stuff. Their oil is pricey, but Severe Gear is cheap. -zz

    Mixing Axle Lube

Here is the response I got from AMSOIL: Charles; I see no advantage in mixing different viscosities of AMSOIL Severe Gear Oils. My advice is to use one of them, probably 75W140, for maximum protection in all situations. Thank you for this opportunity to respond to your question(s). As always...

    Mixing Axle Lube

Amsoil says that although their products are compatible with other oils, they will shorten the life or effectiveness of these other oils. They do not recommend against mixing their own products. I have an inquiry in to them, as well, and will post what I get from them -zz

    Amsoil gear oil stability test

AzFireGuy79, Are you saying that the test is bogus, or that it's not relevant? This site contains a much more expansive set of tests that seems to show that AMSOIL is superior to the others: Are you saying that these are all just company propaganda? Do you have any real data to support your...

    Mixing Axle Lube

Is there any advantage or problem with mixing the 3 different viscosities of AMSOIL Sever Gear? I drive an '89 Ford BroncoII that has been heavily modified for the work and play that I do, including off-road work, hauling, and pulling a trailer and boat. I put a lot of miles on the truck (more...
