End Results, my oil consumption is solved

I didn't realize Max Life was marketed to fix sticky oil control rings. I know nothing about it other than other members on this forum recommended it to me. I had always thought that motor oils marketed to fix oil leaks really just swelled up rubber seals and eventually ruin the rubber seals...

End Results, my oil consumption is solved

I wasn't expecting Max Life to do anything towards solving an oil consumption issue. I thought it was just another motor oil. I only put 5W20 in it since that's the factory recommended stuff. Someone had suggested using 5W30 or 10W30 to lower the consumption but I didn't try that. I was told...

End Results, my oil consumption is solved

You got me, all I know is I was expecting the Zmax to do it. As far as the Max life, I had to put some kind of oil in it so I chose that kind. All I can say is this thing used to go through a TON of oil and now it's completely full for a few thousand miles.

End Results, my oil consumption is solved

I bought a Ford Expedition about 7 months ago and it had 137,750 miles on it with an unknown maintenance history. The first time I checked the oil it was not showing at all on the dipstick and it took 2 1/2 qts to fill. A few weeks later it wasn't showing on the dipstick again...I was thinking...

    XcelPlus

The Excelplus line is sold in the USA under the name Lubrilon. I had tried to order some for the heck of it a while ago and it never showed up, even though my paypal payment was accepted immediately. I began trying to call but both their phone numbers and also their email address are no longer...

    Installed a PCV oil separator

Nice pics Hooligan, my Explorer used to get some moisture in it similar to that but not nearly that bad. The Expedition hasn't shown any moisture yet. Different design engines obviously result in more or less moisture in the crankcase. The most important part in my opinion is the simple fact...

That's the Radial's way of "marking it's territory"

    Brake pads.

I used EBC Greenstuff pads with great success. They were for my 350Z which has a very well known brake dust problem. I think just about every 350Z owner hates driving after cleaning it because it takes only about 20 miles for brake dust to start showing on the fronts. After 5 days the fronts are...

    Installed a PCV oil separator

This last oil change I overfilled by mistake, so I'm just getting rid of the excess oil in the separator. I think a return drain valve would be a better mod. It would easily work with vacuum pulling the drain valve closed and gravity returning the oil during shut down. We use the same thing on...

    Installed a PCV oil separator

That's it. I had cranked the adjustment knob all the way open so it's not restricting at all. Also I think I removed the stone filter because it's too restrictive for oil. Basically mine's just using gravity to collect all the oil that's in the airflow. When the air enters this separator it...

    Installed a PCV oil separator

I've done this on a few of my vehicles and it's always well worth it. This is a cheapo oil separator from Harbor Freight $10. I installed it between the PCV valve and intake on my Expedition. The reason for this mod is to prevent oil from reaching the intake system. I have a consumption problem...

Saw a TV ad for Motor Silk last night.

I thought the same thing about Boron levels increasing. However according to Motor Silk, this is a completely different type of Boron. It's allegedly designed to be attracted to hot metal and bond to it. It's also supposedly 40X less surface friction than Teflon. The microscopic layer of Boron...

Saw a TV ad for Motor Silk last night.

I've been writing to the President of Motor Silk and he's stumped at what could have caused my filter to harden up and crystallize. He supposedly asked the Tribologist and no one has any idea. All I know is that it's never happened before or since using Motor Silk. And the description of what...

Cheapest/best place to get Aerospace 303?

I buy my stuff at www.autogeek.net. http://www.autogeek.net/303aerprot.html is the link to the 303 on their site. They do carry a HUGE array of other products to compete with 303. Personally I would only use water based products on rubber trim and tires. Water based is nice because it dries and...

Saw a TV ad for Motor Silk last night.

Holy craap, they claim 90% friction reduction? I tried the stuff a few years ago and I don't think there was much of a difference in performance, if it was I didn't notice it. I didn't document mpg or do UOA, so my opinion isn't meant to change anyone's minds. -However- there was one major...

Another one bites the dust. [E0 Station]

My owner's manual state's that I'll void the warranty if I use any ethanol blend fuel. That's all I need to know. The EPA can suck it. BTW a lot of places are popping up that sell "boat gas" which is ethanol free.

    E-10 and Gasoline Additives

That study is great, and real proof of deposits too. Personally I think E10 is causing more deposits only because it's being forced to run at something other than it's best mixture. It's being forced to be mixed with gasoline which has a totally different stoich ratio. It's resulting in a loss...
