    Sodium question

Hey there! I tried a searchand really didn't come up with a whole lot. Although there was some good info on another site that was helpful. My last oil sample I sent in had sodium come back at 21ppm. Its usually less than 10. But way back at 50,XXX miles I had one come back at 15 . It was NOT...

    Viscosity is 79.....

Just got my oil report back and my viscosity was 79. The upper normal level is 78. 4,000 miles on the John Deere 15/14. The rest of the report was excellent with no insoluables found. They said it was no big deal. WHat controls the viscosity of oil? Why would it be a little higher this time? Thanks!

CAT CI4+ Oil!!!! ANybody use it???

I have a STOCK fuel system and have absolutely ZERO problems with fuel pressure. The 2 micron units usually last 10,000 miles and I change the Primary filter at 3-5,000 when I change the oil. My fuel pressure gauge located at the Inlet to the CP3 is always at 10-12 Psi which is plenty of...

    1% Fuel In Oil Sample....

I am not real worried right now over the 1%. I am going to sample when I reach the same # of miles and just see where I am at. It is very possible that the sample was contaminated at the lab or something too. No need to worry unless it increases or something weird! LOL

    Valvoline Blue

Most of the VPB is now CJ but in some places you can find the good old CI4+ version called " Classic Blue" They don't allow it in CaliF

    1% Fuel In Oil Sample....

I guess it could go either waY but my bet is that if you don't get the truck to operating temps then the fuel is not burned off I guess. NORMALLY I change the oil HOT but this time it sat most of the day and all I did was start it, drive up on my ramps and shut down. I am not real worried and...

    1% Fuel In Oil Sample....

I think if the air restriction was high it would cause a load on the engine and more fuel would be pumped to maintain pwer etc?

    1% Fuel In Oil Sample....

Jim, I use the Fleetguard Stratopore Premium Filter. I could actually go probably another 5,000 on it, but I like to do changes more frequently.

    1% Fuel In Oil Sample....

UPDATE: I did write blackstone and asked for advice. They asked me if I had started the engine just prior to changing the oil, like 5 minutes or less and sure enough, it had sat all day and I started it to drive it up on the blocks, shut it off, pulled sample. It ran for maybe one minute before...

    1% Fuel In Oil Sample....

My latest oil sample from blackstone showed 1% fuel in oil. They weren't real concerned and said that it was caused from idling or short trips in the truck. After thinking about it, I only work about 4 miles from my house and since summer began I have Idled it more if I had the dogs with me for...
