2010 Ford Ranger, now with Stability Control

I would have bought a Ranger instead of my Tacoma, if they had offered a 4 cyl. 4X4.

    Question about Jet A Fuel

We used to run it in salamander heaters and Herman Nelson heaters exclusively. Never heard of any issues.

Higher octane to burn fuel deposits?

Why change the oil after using a fuel injector cleaner? I've heard that Techron damages bearing metals. Any truth to that?

Getting a New Toro Snow Blower w/10HP Tecumseh...

The 10HP Snow King is an outstanding engine. I have one on an MTD 2-stage machine and have been very satisfied with it. Use Rotella 5-40 in it.

    Best Engine for a 5 - 7KW Generator.

After this storm, I was able to borrow a 5KW genset with a Tecumseh 10 HP L-head engine. I ran it for 50 hours essentially continuously (5-40 Rottella oil change at 24 hours). I made an easy connection to the electrical panel by connecting through an outside arc welder socket and isolating the...

    Best Engine for a 5 - 7KW Generator.

Just got the power back on following the big ice storm we had out here Thursday night. What is the most reliable engine currently available for a 5 - 7KW portable generator?

Best oil for Tecumseh Snow King?

I've been running Rotella 5w40 for the past few years in a 5 HP and a 10 hp SnowKing(s). Easy start at all temperatures yet experienced. No oil consumption. Mighty good!

Waxing, Washing Winter Time etc ..

Some car washes even use dilute hydrofluoric acid. Now that is pretty scary!

    mileage of M1 filters

Here is an M1-301 filter that I have run for 12000 miles (two 6000 mile oil changes) in a 2007 Tacoma 2.7L. The filter is substancially oversized to the OEM. This is the second 12000 mile filter that I've examined and they both looked great. ADBVs have also been soft, supple and like-new. I'm...

    K&N Gold Filter thoughts?

There has been speculation that the K&N filter is the same as Mobil 1, with the exception that it has a nut on the can like an aircraft filter. Is there any insight about whether, or not the media is the same? Autozone is running a $29.99 sale for 5 Qt.s of PP and a K&N filter (up to $14.99...

    18000 mile oil filter changes

For the last 6 oil changes on my Tacoma, I have been changing the oil (PP 5w20) at 6000 miles and the filter ("quart size" M1)every other oil change (12000 miles). I have cut & inspected all the filters and see no evidence of degradation or contaminates in the media. My question is: How about...

09 Tacoma manual trans fluid change

I just went through this issue on my 07 Tacoma earlier this year. The transmission is a notchy box, for sure. I used MT90 based on the advice of many. I noticed a reduction in gear noise right away. I was also able to shift into first gear while the truck was rolling. Shift quality improved...

Should I use a fuel system cleaner?

So, what is in these fuel system cleaners? Would an organic solvent such as acetone do the trick?

Stupid!!! Changed D->P without complete stop!!!

If your "Park Gear" still works, no need to worry. As a kid just learning to drive, I accidently did that in a '64 Dart that stalled while in motion. It made the most horrendous clattering. I thought I had wiped out the transmission. About a year later, I disassembled the transmission to do an...

Oversize filter application for 01 Toyota 4x4 2.7L

On my 08 Tacoma 4X4, 2.7L, I use the "quart size" M1 301 filter. It fits and works perfectly.

5 Speed Trans. Lube for Toyota Tacoma

Today I swapped out the factory fill with MT-90. It seems to make a significant improvement in syncro function. Shifts are smoother in all gears and I can actually downshift into 1st. while in motion! Another observation is that the transmission is noticeably quieter with this lube.

    Post your current MPG

I agree. The tire pressure change was the only obvious change that I made. I'm going to trend it this summer vs. last. Maybe I'll also start logging mean temperature. That would be interesting and maybe even instructive! Factors of how the fuel is being diddled with (concentration of ethanol and...

    Post your current MPG

The only significant change that I made in the last few tank fills was to inflate the tires to 36 PSIG. All along I've been driving fairly conservatively and smoothly. The city/highway mix has been about 80/20 all along.
