Lubricant Related Questions For 2015 Subaru WRX

Resurrecting an old thread here... How important is it that I run an oil that's SM/GF-4? Should I be concerned about running an SL rated oil such as EDGE 0W-30(the Belgian stuff) or Amsoil HDD 5-30? I have heard that some oils with a lot of ZDDP in them can cause issues with the catalytic...

Lubricant Related Questions For 2015 Subaru WRX

Just picked up a 2015 WRX and I have a couple lubricant related questions. I'm sure this question has been answered before, but what are you guys thoughts on a good oil for this car. I have been leaning towards one of the Amsoil 5W-30s since I have good luck with Amsoil in my other rigs and I...

    2010 TITAN, AMSOIL ASL 5W-30, 5200 MILES, 26300

The lab suspects that the Sodium was left over from whatever oil was ran in the truck prior to me purchasing it. Could be an add in ASL, but I have not seen a VOA on it, so I am unsure. I am hoping it is not a sign of a coolant leak. I find that unlikely though since it is so new, but it could...

    2010 TITAN, AMSOIL ASL 5W-30, 5200 MILES, 26300

I'm thinking that 10k shouldnt be too hard to hit with this engine/oil combination. I am wondering if there would be any pros to trying out the HDD Series 3000 5W-30 Diesel in it just for kicks. Buster recommended Penz Ultra and M1 as well. I have heard good things all around about the M1 0W-40...

The oil filter on the Titan and many other Nissans are definitely on the small side. Though there seems to be a trend towards the smaller oil filters throughout the industry for some reason. The sump capacity is pretty good though at 7 quarts. I will take a sample at 7500 miles on this oil...

High Mileage Oil - Opinions and Info

Hey everyone its been a while since I have been on the site and I'm a bit out of the loop. I am trying to find out what people are using for high mileage oil and why. When I used to frequent the site the popular oil was the Valvoline Maxlife Blend because it was believed to be a PAO blend. Is it...

    Amsoil ATF in a BMW?

I am thinking of doing a partial fluid change on the 5 speed ZF Steptronic in my 01 325i. I bought the car with 108k on it and neither the fluid or the filter had ever been changed so I had my mechanic drop the pan and change some of the fluid and the filter. It was refilled with the OEM stuff...

    Mixing Amsoil

Dont most engines consume at least a little bit of oil especially when you are running an extended OCI? I also would not consider Amsoil a waste of money.

    Color of Virgin Oil.

Amsoil Series 3000 5W-30 is nearly black. Darkest virgin oil I have ever seen.

    California Fires and Long OCI

I think that running a 15000 mile OCI should be monitored by oil analysis reguardles of oil type and atmospheric conditions. If you were to worry about anything I would worry about the air filter. Be sure to check it periodically to make sure it doesnt have alot of ash in it.

    Amsoil 0W-20 vs. M1 0W-20 Question

Last time I sent them a sample it took over a month to get the results. I have a feeling that maybe its not just slow mail.

    2003 Toyota Matrix 2ZZGE, 5098, GC Gold

Last time I checked this was still an option that you had to pay for though. Did they start including it in the price of analysis or is it still an add on like TBN is?

02 GMC Yukon Denali Amsoil 0W-30 8000K HIGH COPPER

Before I received the UOA back We already had filled it with the Amsoil 5W-30. I hope this was a step in the right direction because a couple of you have mentioned trying the 10W-30. What is it about the 10W-30 over the 0W-30 or 5W-30 that you guys feel would reduce the wear numbers?
