    2014 Jeep Wrangler 3.6

As far as I'm aware Valvoline removed the moly from Synpower a couple of years ago. 105 ppm seems like a lot of residual if it is from a previous oil. http://www.pqiamerica.com/March2013PCMO/valvolinesyn.htm The wear numbers seem in-line with what we've seen from other Pentastar motors.

Valvoline's Response to Moly in Maxlife

I had need to contact Valvoline's customer care department and took the opportunity to ask if they had removed molybdenum from the full syn Maxlife as they had with the syn-blend. I've noticed a few recent threads in which some have lamented the removal of molybdenum and questioned whether it...

    Oil companies on MS-6395 (WIP)

I spoke to Chrysler regarding what exactly the MS-6395 standard entails and actually received a letter in the mail from them with the parameters outlined. I posted it on page three of this thread: http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/2865313/3 Mobil 1 may not officially...

    PYB Question

PYB is a fine oil and will work well in your application. Chrysler seems to love Pennzoil and every Jeep dealer in my area uses Pennzoil conventional as their bulk oil so I'd imagine there are thousands of 3.8's living happy lives with it.

    M1 taxi engine tear down

I'm not sure if this has already been posted but Mobil has added a short video showing the tear down of the rest of the engine to their site. http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/MotorOil/Videos/Videos.aspx?video=131 The video is a recap of the previous live tear down and around the 3:27 mark...

I asked about this through the Contact Us section of their website so we'll see what they say.

    M1 taxi engine tear down

Did Mobil ever share the results of their full tear down? I remember November 22nd being the date they were going to reveal the results but I don't see anything about it on their website or Facebook page.

2014 Jeep Wrangler Red Line? 5-20 or 5-30?

I read that as Amsoil saying it is "recommended" for applications requiring those specifications but not necessarily that it is officially approved.

    Mobil 1 5w-30 or Pennzoil Ultra 5w-30

You really cannot go wrong with any of those oils. In my opinion there is no measurable benefit in using one of these oils over the other so I would read through their marketing information and pick which you like better or can get cheaper.

Updated report with TAN included. Lousy weather over the last two weekends has deterred me but I will have pictures of the oil fill hole up this week.

We live in the city and this vehicle is used daily for trips of less than three miles. I've owned this vehicle since new and during the free maintenance period it received Castrol at intervals specified by the OLM. I have used Mobil 1 0w40 with roughly bi-annual intervals since the expiration of...
