2021 Toyota Highlander 3.5L, TGMO 0W-20 full synth 5022 miles

Thanks for that info cptbarkey, I didn't realize my engine was selectively using direct and port injection. That will probably be expensive someday if it needs fixed. I'm getting the oil changed one more time at the dealer next week since Blackstone noted the TBN is 2. Then I will begin doing my...

2021 Toyota Highlander 3.5L, TGMO 0W-20 full synth 5022 miles

Thanks for the reassurance, but, look at this UOA. https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/toyota-v6-2gr-fe-tgmo-0w-20-3rd-oci-9-5k-mi.233993/ Many of the UOA of the Toyota 3.5L look nothing like mine. My numbers are shocking. My oil looks like it could be the factory fill and has never been...

2021 Toyota Highlander 3.5L, TGMO 0W-20 full synth 5022 miles

This vehicle has less than 12,000 miles on the odo, and this sample was taken cold through the dipstick tube. The oil change was done at the dealer at around 3000 miles and again at 6800 miles. Sure seems like a lot of metal for 5000 miles on the third fill.

    2000 V-Star Classic 4300 miles Delo 15w40

Holey rodknocker Batman, 90 MPH on a 500 mile trip. Does it still run? My V-Star 650 would get very angry if I did that.

    Rotella T 15W40, Yamaha Roadstar 1700, 3679 miles

Man, look at all that calcium. This must be the Rotella from back in the day!

    Yamaha V-star 650, 2500 miles rotella t 15w40

Yep, I'm sticking with Rotella T. This is an air cooled, shaft drive, dual carburetor V-Twin. I can't figure out where all the copper is coming from. I'll go another 3000 and check again. Thanks for the comments.

    Yamaha V-star 650, 2500 miles rotella t 15w40

    My picture was deleted from my last post a year ago,so I'll try typing it this time. This is Blackstone Labs. Looks like copper came down a little. date 6-6-2011 / 7-11-2010 Miles on oil 2500 / 2000 Miles on unit 8300 / 5800 ALUMINUM 10 / 8 CHROMIUM 1 / 1 IRON 20 / 18 COPPER 14 / 21 LEAD 3 /...

    Rotella T 15w-40 2000 miles Yamaha V-Star 650

Thanks for the comments. I put in a new fill of 15w-40 and a Sham ch-6004 filter (filter comes with 2 O-rings wrong size) at 5800 mi, so I'll go 3000 miles on the next run and sample for the TBN and copper. It really looks pretty good for conventional oil in an air cooled bike.

How long to get Test Results Back?

$1.90 usps in the tube. Took exactly 10 days, no problems.

    Rotella T 15w-40 2000 miles Yamaha V-Star 650

I've noticed a few UOA of low mile bikes that trended down on copper after 12 or 15k. I'm hoping it is breaking in and not a bushing being eaten. I commute 40 miles a day, mostly highway. Not much idle time.

    Rotella T 15w-40 2000 miles Yamaha V-Star 650

This is third fill of Rotella. Copper kinda high. Everything else seems o.k. for 5800 miles on a 2008 V-Star. Air cooled, carburetor v-twin shaft drive.

    K&N for my 5.0 Stang?

That seems to be the consensus, running through the search function and came across this: the best filtering - Amsoil almost best filtering - Mobil-1 good filtering and the best flow ...... K & N (plus if you are not good with tools, these have a big nut for idiots) want the best filter for...

    K&N for my 5.0 Stang?

Which is more important; flow rate or filtering ability? K&N seems to flow good but Purolator seems to filter better. I'm leaning towards K&N for flow rates.
