I have a 2006 MB E320cdi with 134K and some research showed that either 229.51 or 228.31 oils are MB approved for it. I've been using M1 ESP Formula 5W30 but it's getting hard to find and expensive. There's lots of oils 228.51 and 228.31 approved and I recently bought several gallons of Delo 400...

    MB E320 CDI

I'm purchasing a 2006 model and MB's oil spec is 229.51. I found an old thread from 2007 here where M1 ESP fit the requirements. Are there any other current oils available that would also fit the spec?

    2015 BMW 328d

I don't really know other than he's into hyper-miling. He does make long trips fairly frequently coming home. He also said he planned to keep it a long time....we'll see though.

Thanks. I asked the same question about free dealer maintenance and he was to check on it. If it is, he's good to go. But if he has to get it done elsewhere, I'd want to make sure he insisted on an oil that met BMW's specs.

The young'un purchase one recently and asked about oil changes. Knowing nothing about diesels I asked what did the dealership offer. He was to check back. He said there was a Castrol recommended sticker in the engine bay. Which version of Castrol would they be using? And what other oils would...

    P420 code 2002 Toyota Camry 4cyl

The cat was replaced earlier this week and no issues or codes so far. We plan to replace both the plugs and pcv this weekend which have been in for 50K. Mechanic said everything looked good on the scans after the cat replacement.

    P420 code 2002 Toyota Camry 4cyl

Our mechanic has checked with AAP and they've agreed to a straight swap on the cat so all we'll have to do is pay for the labor. For the near term, this seems to be the best way to go since we may not keep the car for any great length of time. After research and talking with other mechanics...

On the post cat O2 sensor...Dont know what the shop did other than swap the old one out for another. I'll check on whether all the stuff used was OEM or not. The inspection has to be done before next Feb so we have time to save our pennies to get the stuff fixed. I'll also check with the shop...

Supposedly, the Walker cat has a 5 year warranty. Even though we've treated and maintained the car well, I assume that they'll find some way not to honor it

Unfortunately, NC is an emissions state for newer cars/trucks(<1995?) so we'll have to get it fixed before the next inspection.

Thanks...will do. I think the main cat is a Walker based on price charged earlier and photo on the AAP website. Is Walker stuff good? Would changing plugs and PCV possibly help?

Not sure. Local shop did work and I've been told they get most of their parts through AAP

Some history...in May 2013, the main catalytic converter unit that is part of the exhaust manifold went bad and was replaced. Two weeks ago, the secondary cat and pipe were replaced after it started metallic rattling noise (probably from core breaking apart). Secondary O2 sensor was replaced at...

    Cooper CS4

Vibe 2007...sounds like you have the same problems. Never had anything like this on the previous sets of Summits. But we'll get through it. Bought the CS4's over Hankook 727's due to the rebate at the time. Wont do it again.

I watched while the last alignment was done and the screen on the machine showed the alignment as dead on after some minor adjusting on both the front and rear. The last alignment was done 30+/- days ago. The feathering isnt visible but can be felt by running hand over the tire tread. It's...

    Cooper CS4

Had this set for 20K miles and they're smooth and getting great wear but are noisy. Most is road whine but one (or possibly two) has a low droning sound that sets in around 60+. It's more noticeable on smoother asphalt than other roads and it's intermittent....comes and goes. There's some minor...

    belt squeal - 2003 Tacoma

Looks like I'll be asking Santa for a PS pump in my stocking. I'll try cleaning up the crud and tightening the belts and see if I can get by for awhile... Thanks brelandt and everybody! Merry Christmas.

    belt squeal - 2003 Tacoma

brelandt....did your PS pump leak down enough so that you could tell it on the stick? Mine appears to keep the same fluid level but the outside and top of the tank looks like its somewhat damp or sweating. And mixed with the dust over time, it'll get a layer of black crud on it. It cleans up...
