The referenced article is quite sketchy on several points. Note the recurring reference to 6 month intervals, when the guideline has been 12 months for decades now. The time issue (one year) with modern engines & oil changing is because as soon as the engine is started just one time following an oil change, a degradation process is started & doesn't cease.
