    Schaeffer's base oil

Can anyone tell me why Schaeffers uses a Group 2 base oil rather than a Group 3 in their 7000 blend series? Is it simply a matter of cost?

    Auto-Rx /Moly plating

Can anyone tell me using Auto-Rx in the maintenance dose of 2-3 oz every change affects the ability of moly to plate to operating surfaces? I use Schaeffer's 7000 so this is a concern. Thanks

    Schaeffer's 7000 5W-30 1990 Honda

Thought youl guys might be interested in this analysis. Just a bit of background. This car has had a steady diet of Mobil 1 throughout its life until this last change. The car is used strictly as a second car for commuting purposes. The relatively low miles at change indicate its purpose. My...

    The Bear Trap

On the Favorite Sites site, Dominic posted a link to the Engine Oil Bible. In this site, the author talks about The Bear Trap, which is a magnetic wrap of sorts that wraps around an oil filter to pick up "metal contaminants" missed by the filter. Do these things really work?

tbw - Thanks muck for posting Terry's reply. Certainly sounds like Terry was impressed. I just sent a sample off to him on my 2001 Subaru Outback with the 3.0 litre six. I am using the 5w-30 Schaeffer's 7000 blend. Am really interested to see how it is doing. This is my first analysis on the...

Question for everyone about breakin oil...

When I was still using Mobil 1, I would drive home from the dealer and immediately change to Mobil 1. Put many miles on those engines that I did that with. Certainly never had a problem with oil comsumption. According to Mobil, it is perfectly acceptable to do that.
