I've used the $10 B&M drain plug on a few of my vehicles w/o any leaks. I put a small bead of RTV around the plug just to be sure. I think the people that have had problems with leaks have overtightened the inner nut and deformed the nylon gasket.

I once went 3-4 years without changing the oil in my old 72' Ford pickup. But I only drove it a few hundred miles a year.

I had a customer take back a gallon of coolant full of water. We put it back on the shelf, another customer bought it and returned it no problem. It wasn't really a big deal. I think you guys are being a little harsh on this guy. When did we all become moral crusaders for Walmart?

That's defiantly a mechanical problem. Sounds like your torque converter took a dump. Your high mileage fluid had nothing to do with it.

I got a good laugh out of that line the first time I seen it. The funny thing is a lot of people wouldn't know any better, I didn't before getting hooked on this site.

I don't think the locktite is needed. I've never used it on the diff cover bolts. I've also never used any thread tape or anything else on the fill plug. Just clean everything up good and use the Permatex Ultra Black RTV. No need to wait 24 hours to dry either, I filled the diff in my Rodeo...

Where did all this Pennzoil sludge stuff come from? I've heard it in other forums. I had someone tell me I was an idiot for using PP in my truck and anyone with mechanical experience would never use Pennzoil.

I thought Walmart was the only place that had the 5qt jugs. All the parts stores around here have mostly gallon sizes or they have some oddball sizes.

Curiosity got the best of me so I went ahead and pulled the oil filter and cut it open even though it had less than 1,000 miles on it. I was surprised to find that it was pretty clean. I could see a tiny bit of glitter in the pleats but nothing like the last one I pulled. I'm not sure what to...
