    Rotella T6 5W-40, 3,200mi, Yamaha V-Star 1300

Rotella T6 5-40 synthetic is what I also use in my 2009 Star 1300 Tourer, though I have less than 2,000 miles on it. This oil is almost always sold out at our local Walmart, I actually have to buy some when its on the shelf even if I don't need it immediately. Its also the oil I use in my 2002...

    my HD experience ...

I bought a 1980 Honda CX500 Deluxe last august, my first bike and I was 52 years old, I rode bikes many many years before though, working on the Honda was abreeze, the parts were available on Ebay very affordably, I racked up some local mileage on that sweet bike and gained confidence. I work...

    2009 V-Star 1300 What oil and coolant?

Well I went ahead and dropped the Yamalube that has been in the engine for only 43 miles, it had streaks of what looked like silt, most likely clutch material, it was quite thick and had a different kind of smell, not burnt but something else, if anything it reminded me of Lubriplate. I put the...

    Rotella 5w40 synthetic in 83 GL1200 Honda

I have a 1980 Honda CX 500, this year I pulled the motor out and replaced the stator so I had to replaced the rear case gasket, if you don't know the CX 500 is a transverse flying V design, water cooled motor, not like the Wing but getting there, anyway I was using Rotella T 15-40 with no...

    2009 V-Star 1300 What oil and coolant?

Sorry about the slow reply but yes I do know her. Have done business with her and have actually sat down and shared a beer with her and her husband may years ago. A really great person with down to earth values.

    Rotella T6 - with JASO-MA? Really?

I saw the new 15-40 Rotella T at my local Walmart here in Alaska yesterday in a 2.5 gallon jug for $27, that might be a higher price than the lower 48 but a bargain for me. Yes thats right it was NOT a one gallon or a 5 quart jug but a whole 2.5 gallons.

    EDGE AND VERY COLD WEATHER

I have started my truck a 2002 Silverado in -45 temps here in Alaska with an unheated oil pan with Mobil 1 5-30 though the engine has a block heater. I use Baldwin oil filters only. I am thinking of adding a small heat pad to the oil pan anyway just to be safe.

New Rotella 5w40 T6 at Advanced Auto

Its not on our shelves yet up here in Alaska, I will start using it in my Silverado 8.1 this spring, I'm not sure I will use it during the winter, I use 5-30 Mobil 1 Truck & SUV in the winter. And I am most definitely going to use it in both of my bikes the 2009 Star 1300 and the 1980 Honda CX 500.

Why no 5qt jugs of 5W40 & 15W40? Price Coercion?

It is logical to me being a truck driver, when my big rig shows low on the stick it indeed does need 1 gallon, a 5 qt. jug would kinda screw me up, I rarely add just a quart or two, now my personal ride a Silverado with an 8.1 holds 6.5 quarts so buying a 5 quart jug doesn't help either, I just...

    Rotella T6 - with JASO-MA? Really?

I would honestly like to see the synthetic Rotella T another grade heavier going to a 50 weight rating for air cooled engines. Myself neither of my bikes are air cooled and thus either the 15-40 or 5-40 works for me. The real selling point here is that its available at stores like wallyworld...

    Rotella T6 - with JASO-MA? Really?

I have a feeling this is gonna open a huge can of speculations at a lot of forums. I post a lot at Yamaha Motorcycle Forums and I own a 2009 Star 1300 Tourer and of the few times when I suggested using HDEO I was scoffed, well I have been a diesel mechanic for over three decades and I do know...

    2009 V-Star 1300 What oil and coolant?

When I recently worked on my CX 500 I used Dexcool and distilled water, the cooling system was completely empty. Thing of it is that me being a mechanic most of my life I know that sometimes a new vehicle is prepped often with people that may do shortcuts, I have seen it in dealerships where its...
