Your 22R will run forever with a good 10W30 and good filter. I wouldn`t be fussy about the brand just keep it changed regularly. They are great motors that will take lots of hard work and abuse.
The early 5 speeds were junk till 83. The input bearings weren't strong enough. After that they were good. The newer R series work great. The 3.0L V6 was the one that ate head gaskets and is a completely junk motor which is why my truck is a diesel now. The older trucks had the 22R in them and...
The Hilux's are the same up until 95 as the Toyotas here were except they kept the solid front axle that ended in 85 here until about 92 and they run diesels in those trucks. I'm running a Hilux diesel in my 92 that I bought from Japan and installed into my truck. Much better motor than the old...
In our old Detroit 2 stroke we use it year round. We try not to start it when its really cold but it goes at -20*F when it has to. We run a coolant circulating heater for a few hours but thats it. Run that in our CAT motors too. We have a D2 and D7 and they are very very old. The D2 is running...
Just wondering what brakes are on the bike. Hydraulic or mechanical. I've got Avid BB7's on mines and you can adjust how much pressure the levers put on the brakes with an adjusting screw on the handle.
We had some fuel that was so bad it stopped my dad's truck from running properly and it made both of our snowmachines run horribly and even killed mine to be able to make it home. We had to go out on the ice with the truck and tow it home. Put lots of fuel conditioner in them and they began to...
92 Toyota 4x4 pickup with a swapped Yota diesel. The truck just turned over 300000miles a week ago and the motor is at about 250000 miles. No real problems other than getting the injectors and pump rebuilt. Change to the ULSD did that to those pumps. Its rusty but it always goes.
I like the older vehicles before they came with covers over everything in the engine compartment and I like to be able to do most of the work on my own without having to rely on a computer to reset things and test things. That said I have a 92 Toyota 4x4 pickup and I put a 95 Toyota 4 cyl turbo...
My pick if I could get it new would have been a 1985 Toyota with the 22R and 5 speed 4wd. The 22R lasts forever and is simple to fix and the drivetrain in those old yotas is second to none. Solid front axle is great. Only thing is I'd have to keep it oiled really well for the winters to keep it...
Coldest this year was -46*F. We see lots of -30*F and occasionally -40. The majority of Dec and Jan and parts of Feb are -10 to -15*F at night. It is cold enough to need an oil that will flow at those temps.
I used the Delvac 1 0w40 ESP in my 95 Toyota diesel and I did not notice any improvement in cold starts over the 5W40s that I have been using for winters. It seemed to work well but after 4000 miles it really started to burn the 0W40. I topped it off with T6 5W40 to last till the 5000 mile mark...
We have a 3100 in our 2001 Malibu and it is always noisy. Basically from the factory but is much much worse at 120000kms. It is always louder than my diesel and uses oil and coolant and hates starting in the cold. From what we have seen with this motor we wont be getting anything like it again...
