    Mercon V or Dexron VI

Mercon V, Mercon SP and Mercon LV are all very different fluids I would be very leary about using a fluid that says it fits all catagories.....

Rounded off bolt heads and sockets: recommendation

Get a set of knipex cobra pliers...they are 37 times better then vice grips, the bite and do NOT let go...most amazing pliers on the planet. And only use 6 point sockets in the future

    2004 Ford explorer

I don't know how many times i've ran out of bushings in my o/d servo bore sleeve kit lol. The kit came with the bushings and tool to do the intermediate bore, but I've yet to see it needed. They are money makers, but you couldnt run fast enough to give me a vehicle with a 5r55...never trust a...

the 4.0 is indestructable...I loathe the 5r55...seems at 100k miles the o/d servo bore wears out

    Magnefine Filter Question II

Most of it is ferrous actually, but you typically dont see any wear on the gears and such unless a bushing has failed. If you see sludge on the magnet its metal from the friction but it shouldnt be there unless its been abused most likely the friction in the torque converter clutch, its common...

    Magnefine Filter Question II

yes, I'm just a lowly automatic tranmission specialist with Ford motor company for a living, what would I know? I dont care what ritualistic things you want to perform to your tranny to make it last forever, if it helps you sleep better at night thats great, but I will provide you with facts...

    Magnefine Filter Question II

Transmissions dont make debris unless they are grenaded. Ford even tells us to reuse transmission filters during rebuilds if it isnt contaminated. An aftermarket filter is pretty much a giant waste of money. The magnefine in the picture is the EXACT same filter ford ships out in the reman...

    Keeping a transmission clean

The filter in an automatic transmission is more a screen, and less of a filter. It does have friction clutches but they are not similar to frictions like a brake pads, they arn't just going to "wear out" Its very common to still see writing on the clutch and band surfaces of 150,000...

    ATF OCI?

since drain and fills remove jack squat amounts of fluid, yes I'd say every 30 is a must. And dont bother changing the filter

    Variable Camshaft Timing

if were talking ford, it uses a special oil filter fl 2005 with the wierdest looking [censored] metal valve in the end of it, they claim it wont start in the cold without it but I've used the fl 400s with no problems...so who knows
