Any Jeep 4.0L owners out there?

Donaldson P169071 on my 2004 Rubi. 30 years owning two CJ?s and six TJ's.more than 300k miles between all, most of them on Fleetguard LF3487 and Donaldsons. Absolutely great engine.

    What oil for 97 jeep 4.0 ?

I've owned seven I-6 Jeeps 258's and 4.0 L's for 25 years now, have a '04 Rubicon and I would't use anything that is not ACEA A-3 5W-40 in it, as lot of other Rubicon owners. Just my 2 cents.

    Baldwin Filters??

Thanks for the info. I'm going to buy two of these (B2-HPG). Do you have any pics of the tear down by any chance?.

    Baldwin Filters??

Petty, have you ever disassamble a B2-HPG for you 4.0 L Cherokee?

    Baldwin Filters??

So Gary, would you say that B2-HPG is the equivalent of the Donaldson P169071?. I would really like to know since the B2-HPG costs about $7.00 Dlls. less than Donaldson. ($18.46 vs. $11.50)

Jeep 4.0 I-6: filter choice to replace FL-300

You could also use the Donaldson P169071 (synth. media, very expensive), Fleetguard LF 3487 (also synth.element), Baldwin B2-HPG, Amsoil Ea 015 ($$$$), and do two oil changes per one filter.

    LF3487 vs. P169071

So the Fleetguard is a Donaldson or vice versa?, anyways I bought the P169071 for $18.50 Dlls. Should I go 2 years and around 5K miles with PP 5W-40 and this filter or am I stretching it to much?

    LF3487 vs. P169071

Hey, thanks guys; These guys must be nuts to sell the LF3487 at the price of a PH-8A, I'm going to buy all I can get my hands on. As for the Donaldson, well maybe I'll buy just one at $21.20 Dlls., net price. Johnny; no there are no M1's here, only K&N at $20+ Dlls. Thanks again guys.

    LF3487 vs. P169071

Does anybody know what´s the difference between Fleetguard LF3487 and Donaldson P169071. I'm confused. The LF3487 costs $5.50 Dlls., while the P169071 costs around $24 Dlls. ?????? Aren't they suppose to be the same?.Which one would you use for 1 year OCI, with Mobil 1 5W-50 EP? Could I go 2...

    Donaldson P169071 Filter pictures

You are right Johnny, I have two Ea's 042 and 015 for my Jeep and to my surprise both say "Made in Mexico", which makes sense since Donaldson has a huge factory in Monterrey. The sad part, is that I can hardly find the P16071 here and if I'm lucky, I'll have to drive 80 miles and pay $25 Dlls...

lifter noise in a 4.0 Jeep

Hey Johnny!, glad to now you too have a TJ. In this city(Mexico City) traffic is so bad and wild, that I use a daily beater (Malibu '98)for a DD, but on sunny weeekends I take him out for a ride.

lifter noise in a 4.0 Jeep

I've owned 4.2L, 4.6L and 4.0L Jeeps for 25 years. These engines (atleast mine)love 20W-50, 10W-30. Currently, with my '04 Rubicon with only 5K miles, I'm using Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 with great results. This the same oil as Pennzoil P. IMHO, it "sounds" (the engine)better than with Mobil 1 5W-30.

    Jeep Recommendation

I'm on my 25th year owning Jeep (2 CJ's, 1 TJ 4 cyl., 3 Saharas and currently a '04 Rubicon with 3500 miles (no [censored]). Always used synthetic in xxW-40 or even 50. Never had a problem with these engines. They really are bulletprof. One CJ went 120K miles with absolutely no problems. Use a...

    Need your help; please!!

First of all; thanks for your prompt response. I think I'll go with Shell Helix Ultra, the only other choice would be Mobil Delvac 1 but it's quite difficult ot find. I've using Mobil 1 for 15+ years,so it was kind of difficult desision to take. Thanks again for your help.
