Valvoline high mileage (75k miles+) ATF vsMerconV

I like the Valvoline and have read a lot of good stuff about it. If you read the back, you will see it has "synthetic base oils" so that would make it a synthetic blend. Works very well in my GM transmission specifying Dexron III.

Mobil 1 'Green Cap" 0W-30 AFE, VOA

Good point on the retailer bit. Didn't quite think about it like that. But, Mobil 1 is always changing their tactics. Remember when their Mobil 1 Truck/SUV was 5w40? Then it went to Truck/SUV 5w30. Now 5w40 is back as some "european" formula (can't remember specifics). Just wish they would stick...

Matchbox, what is the story with Royal Purple? I'm always trying to gather more info.

    Maxlife ATF....replacing Amsoil ATF.

Nope, haven't compared them and I was being a little smart I guess. I get a little turned off when people say you will notice a change in performance simply by switching an oil. I guess that could hold true in some vehicles but going from conventional to synth ATF in other cars to me showed no...

Since Amsoil is so good, why doesn't every1 use it

I have tried in the past to buy Amsoil. The one time I called a dealer to buy some motorcycle oil they tried on the phone to get me to sell Amsoil. That deterred me so I use mobil1 in my bike and its cheaper. About a month ago I was at the gas station. My car was ticking because it is an Isuzu...

Mobil 1 'Green Cap" 0W-30 AFE, VOA

Really glad Mobil1 is making this oil readily available again. I have a 95.5 rodeo I have had since new that deleveloped the infamous "valve ticking" due to stuck valve-lash adjusters. Isuzu had a TSB that called for using Mobil1 0w30 to cure which worked like a charm. Went back to Mobil1 5w30...

    PP vs M1

This is an pointless group of posts here. Started off that PP trumps M1 which is speculation and now its going both ways. I'm on this forum a lot and there is not earthshaking evidence that PP outperforms M1 as implied. They are both big-name synthetics (or non-synthetics if you want to go...

    Super Tech now $2.67?

I still use the Supertech 3593A because it hasn't gone to the ECORE yet. For my other car I bought an ECORE once not knowing they changed and when I saw it, I grew skeptical. I cut it open and wasn't impressed. So for the Yucon, I stick to the Delcos which look really good. I figured I'd give...

owners manual calling for obsolete oil (SG,SH)

----, ----, ----. You can use current oils in motorcycles. The "SJ" or "SM" API ratings are backwards compatible. Your manual is outdated. If you are using the weight oil as specified in your manual and avoiding the "energy conserving" label, which I doubt you will find on any 10w40 or 20w50...

    4-stroke MXer oil?

This topic looks dead now but after reading I have something worth mentioning. I wouldn't concern yourself with "what a pro team uses" or what they are sponsored by. With the amount of rebuilds that they do, it is really pointless to consider what oil they use. They could use Supertech oil and...

    help with 15w-50 M1

Highly doubt there is enough of a difference in the Extended Performance to be the reason for your turbo failure. If that were truely the case you would have a liability issue with either the dealer since Mobil-1 15w50 grade is recommended.

    Mobil 1

The EP gold cap is the more robust oil. They reintroduced the 15w50 viscosity in the "regular" Mobil-1 synthetic line. This is more what the previous "red cap" was.
