Floor jack pinch weld adapters. Rubber? Metal? DIY?

Years ago I bought a G35 that had lift points on pinch welds, and the service manual called for a specific Kent Moore adapter. I called KM, and it had never been produced. The guy said "just do what everyone else does and use some old hockey pucks." Then he said, wait, you're from SC - you don't...

Is “dollars per square ft “ an analysis tool in your area?

I think it's useful between similar homes. So if you have two homes in the same neighborhood, with similar finishes, it can be a sanity check for price. I don't see the number as perfectly linear. You'll usually see higher $/sf on smaller homes, and see it drop somewhat for larger homes in the...

(possibly) Wrong oil put into my vehicle by dealership, trying to figure out next step

We had the exact opposite issue at our dealership. My mother in law's Rogue calls only for 0W-20 full synthetic. Our only-one-in-town Nissan dealer only uses bulk 5W-30 semi synthetic. Our service manager said Nissan would never deny a warranty claim based on using that oil instead of the one...

    R12 Refrigeration oil for 1990 Infiniti Q45

I'm going to replace the evaporator in my Q45. I still have a decent stash of R12 on hand, so I'll be using that. The sticker under the hood specifies Suniso 5GS Refrigeration oil. This stuff has been difficult to find, but I think this might be a decent replacement...

    Cabin filter question

I think their purpose is to keep the evaporator coils clean... not your lungs. I replaced the one on my truck a couple of weeks ago, and couldn't believe the amount of dirt and stuff that was just packed in to the folds in 17k miles. Keeping that in a filter instead of packing them in the...

Has Pennzoil Platinum 5W-30 changed since 2009?

Cool... I'll buy a couple of quarts, mix it up, and call it good. Thanks! Heath

Has Pennzoil Platinum 5W-30 changed since 2009?

I stocked up on the 5 quart jugs of Pennzoil Platinum 5W-30 in 2009 when they worked out to $1/qt after rebate, and I've been running it in my truck. Now I have about 2.5 quarts left over. Has the formulation for PP changed since then? If so, I think I'll just post these last 2.5 quarts on...

    V3 triton led 1157

Cree clearly doesn't make the drop-in assemblies, but they do make bulk LEDs. www.mouser.com shows a ton of them... Of course I have no idea if the actual LEDs in the assembly I purchased are actually genuine Cree. That said, what I have installed is brighter and more responsive than OEM...

    V3 triton led 1157

I haven't used those, but wow the cost is up there! In my experience, I have been very pleased with the bulbs sold as "60W Cree" on eBay and Aliexpress. The "60W" rating is a bit misleading... that's the maximum current they can handle right before burnout, but they actually pull about 271mA...

    Best headlight lens restorer?

I just tried what I assume is a relatively new product from Duplicolor. http://www.duplicolor.com/products/headlightRestoration/ I was able to have it transferred in to O'Rielly for $10.99. It's a spray polish and a clear coat. I had already cleaned my lenses before I bought the kit, so I...

Time (not mileage) between oil changes

Thanks so much for all of the replies! Many of my trips are of the 5 or 10 minute variety. I really just need to drive the car more often... I definitely blow the cobwebs out when I get it on the road. I try to make sure it sees redline at least once per drive, after it's warmed up of course. Heath

Time (not mileage) between oil changes

I can't imagine this hasn't been discussed before - but I couldn't find anything using the search function. If anyone could direct me to some good threads, I would appreciate it. I know the old rule of thumb is 3 months between oil changes, but with today's advanced oil chemistry - what is a...
