Sounds like the Valvoline is the way to go. I think I'll give the SynPower 5w40 a try. It has literally a s#&*load of manufacturer approvals, from VAG to BMW and Mercedes and it is easily available in Germany. Basically the fact that the 5w40 is way more common than the 30 tipped the decision...
